Friday Night Football Games?

The new Big Sky contract with ESPN will include Friday night football games… That isn’t going to go over too well for long distance travelers to Wa Griz.

Considering it took 4 years to host one out of the two games per year, I’m assuming it will only hit us every other year for a Friday home game even with 4 total games. I’m sure it will be frustrating for some and will not be full. Wonder how much revenue it will bring to the conference.

Kick times will be scheduled in plenty of time for people to get the day off for a 3 day weekend. It might actually work out to be a plus for the out of towners that have jobs.
Great if you're driving in... not so much if you have to change plane tickets!

As far out as possible to get good fares ... last season I had all my tickets by the end of May. Kind of a bitch being a couple of thousand miles away from Wa-Griz...
I have season tickets and fly also.

Don't buy so far in advance. Better fares closer. The whole buy early thing is an industry scam

Been doing it for 20+ years and look at a wide variety of timing every year but because of the lack of flights into MSO on average further out is much cheaper in the long run... Some of my flights to other locations outside of MSO do offer some savings by waiting but that at times can be tricky as well...

I take your point. The OP did say long distance travelers. I jumped to a faulty conclusion that he was referring to fans with 300+ mile drives to Missoula.
Well the silver lining is that most of the flights get in with plenty of time to make a night game...only down side is not going to Reds or the Mo Club on Friday afternoon... a cross I'll have to bear!

Me thinks ESPN is testing the waters to see what viewership numbers a game with UC Davis, Sac State, Montana, and Montana State would bring in for future conference considerations.

I just think they are looking to fill programming times and it has nothing to do directly with future conference considerations.

I could see looking to fill programming times, but I'm sure in future realignment discussions the TV ratings from such games would be considered when discussing TV deals which is a large driver of modern realignment.
