GEORGE CROSS-GRIZ-Will be 100 years old

LivingstonNative

Well-known member
George was a former physical education teacher at UM. I don’t know what years, maybe some of you could answer that question.
His daughter was born and raised in Missoula and lives with her father in Sun City festival, near Phoenix.
George is a former World War II veteran. George parachuted into Normandy the night before the D-Day invasion. He ended up near Eglise Sainte-Marie. Bullets went through his parachute, but nothing hit him. He also attended last summer‘s anniversary of the D-day invasion.
Anyhow, he will be turning 100 years old on January 9, 2025. There will be a party between 2 PM and 6 PM, on January 9. The party is at…,..
Sage Center
26501 W Desert Vista Blvd
Buckeye, AZ 85396
If anyone is in the Phoenix area, or close, and wants to attend, you’re welcome. The party will be in the bar. George has his own barstool with his name embroidered on the back of the chair. He is at the bar most every afternoon for a drink and then he leaves. I think that is what keeps him going. LOL
If you do show up, wear GRIZ attire, he loves to meet GRIZ people.
There will be another party on January 11, 2025 at The sage center, in one of the meeting rooms. I will follow up with more information on that meeting, which will again be from 2 to 6 PM.
The main purpose of this post is that they are trying to get at least 100 birthday cards for George. Please send him a card and let him know you are a GRIZ. I know he would really appreciate the card. Send to…,,,,

Let us know if you send a card.

PS I know that this is not football related, however, this is where most of you hang out and I am trying to get as many cards as possible sent to George.
HAPPY NEW YEAR‼️

Thought I would add this.

After serving, George used the skills he learned to be a smoke jumper fighting forest fires in Montana. He went on to be an instructor/professor at the University of Montana as a Physical Education instructor and worked in the Dean’s office dealing with students who got in trouble.

After retiring he became involved in Senior Olympics and competed as a javelin thrower for many years. He now lives in Sun City Festival Active Retirement Community outside of Phoenix, Arizona. He lived in Orifino Idaho for a while when I was working and living in that area.

Great man. I took coaching of gymnastics and soccer from him. Also hunted with George at Harley Lewis's cabin up Rock Creek. He would go up the mountain like a mountain goat.
