2025 Transfer Thread/ Portal Offers-- (31) Transfers to UM

We still have an open spot in the QB room and the Griz should go get this guy. Kid tore it up for 3 years at Bryant before transferring to Wazzu this year where the only game he appeared in was the bowl game and he played pretty well in that. No idea what level of interest he will have, but this kid could be the answer to our problems at QB next year!

Wonder if Wolfe will be the only safety we bring in? DL sure taking sweet ass time along with anymore OL
I think we might have some pretty good depth at safety already with Rostad, Boyd and Parker along with some other young guys. I think Rostad is going to be a stud. DL needs more depth just because the nature of the position and they get the hell beat out them.

I kind of think we backed off our interest on him over time. Plus tbh with you, I wasn't overly impressed with his numbers any way. I'm fine with not landing him
So a week or so after offering him they decided he wasn’t good enough?

You realize how stupid that makes them sound, right? That’s either awful evaluating or awful planning. There’s no good way to spin this.

That would be an NCAA violation. Got evidence of that?
I have no insight on whether anybody’s been reached out to, but you know the NCAA doesn’t care, right?

It’s never the school/coach/etc reaching out to the player. It’s an intermediary reaching out to an intermediary. For example, Gillman likely has an agent for NIL stuff. So a “friend of a friend” reaches out to the agent, or to his mom, tells them there’d be interest from this school if he enters the portal, and possibly this much money too. Is it tampering? I think so, but technically, not really, and bottom line, the NCAA doesn’t care. This is happening at Wisconsin, Miami, USC, Florida, even Alabama. They aren’t going to care it’s happening at Montana, I promise you.

The idea of the NCAA regulating anything regarding CFB is a very old idea.

I think you're overreacting. Perhaps at the time maybe they didn't think they we were gonna land Terahiti Wolfe, or maybe somebody else came on their radar. Sometimes guys like Thomas are seen as a Plan B in the event that you miss on somebody else or are waiting for somebody else to come available. Odds are that's likely what happened here.

Hauck was handed a team from Glenn that had lost 3 of its last 4 games
and had no QB.
Meh. You could argue that Glenn in 2002 was on the last of the Mick Dennehy's recruits from a 1999 class that was exceptional.
And, Ochs had committed before Hauck arrived. That's a really nice gift.
I think the biggest factor in those end of season losses were key injuries, especially at safety where Trey Young was out. I remember Glenn telling us the night before the Eastern game that Young was out and the next guy up (Kevin Edwards) was very green, maybe a FR rs or So. We got smoked.

You make a good case for the level of depth that Hauck inherited. Ochs was not available until October, dealing with the likes Disney and Hartman up until then. Ochs and Hauck were not strangers as BH was instrumental in recruiting him to CU when he was there. Don Read has been quoted as saying that had Ochs had the OL that DD enjoyed, it would be his number retired.

Dave is my sentimental favorite, but I’ll go to my grave believing that Ochs was the best talent we’ve ever had at qb.
