I’m just guessing, I could be totally wrong, but I imagine the spring 2021 season didn’t count, much like it didn’t for other players, he could get a medical year for fall 2021, and it would leave him with 1 more.Isn't he put of eligibility anyways?
As much as I hate to say this, I think the next domino to fall will be a player suing the NCAA and asking why they can set a number of eligibility years, anyway. They will say that it is a form of age discrimination, and that the NCAA is violating anti-trust laws by using their position to keep people from working and earning money (via NIL). And, unless Congress finally carves out an anti-trust exemption for the NCAA immediately, the NCAA will lose the case just like they lose all of the others.Isn't he put of eligibility anyways?
And why do you hate to say it? They already opened Pandora's box so this is our world now. It's already completely fuhked up so might as well take care of the players, sue the shit out of the NCAA for all I care.As much as I hate to say this, I think the next domino to fall will be a player suing the NCAA and asking why they can set a number of eligibility years, anyway. I know that sounds pessimistic, but it seems like that is the next shoe to drop, and if they deny Gronowski a waiver he would be the poster boy for a lawsuit like that.
Personally, I hate to say it because it isn't what I want and it would fundamentally change college football if it was no longer based around young people playing after high school and before going pro or leaving college. At that point, it could easily end up being a league of guys who were just barely not good enough for the NFL, and we have 35 year old QBs taking up spots. Why would a school like Georgia just not have kept paying Stetson Bennett? And why do you hate to say it? They already opened Pandora's box so this is our world now. I get what you're saying, but sadly, once NIL happened college football was fundamentally changed forever.Personally, I hate to say it because it isn't what I want and it would fundamentally change college football if it was no longer based around young people playing after high school and before going pro or leaving college. I'm all for kids getting paid, as well. I'm also in favor of them being able to transfer out after their season is over, because kids shouldn't be held prisoner for 4-5 years to a choice they made when they were 18. I'd even be fine with them getting one year contracts and a salary. But I'd really like Congress to give the NCAA an anti-trust exemption so that we can find a reasonable way to at least keep college football about college aged people. I think that is reasonable.
