DL Transfer Availability

Because nobody wants to play in this system

I understand the sentiment, but don’t believe that is true. Probably need to offer more dudes than three. D Line is a coveted position and those guys get NIL $$’s thrown their way. Highest bidder, NFL potential, likability of defensive coordinator(s), the defensive scheme, chances of winning, aligning with the degree they are pursuing, geographic considerations. and if their girlfriend will move with them to the new school. Voila!!

Sales pitch. We play 3 linemen and a LB. Since you would be only one over 280 they will double you every play so don’t expect tackles/sacks. Our defense is designed so you take on 2 so the numbers are in our favor for other guys to tackle. That lame idea of 2 DT s over 280 playing at same time like about everywhere else that you are considering is so overrated….

Big, fast, strong DL are very had to get. All teams want them. First, there are just not that many around. Secondly, the competition is fierce in landing these student-athletes.

D lineman are one of the post coveted positions in the transfer portal. Even the mediocre ones have lots of options that are probably above their pay grade.

Yeah, the only thing I'm noticing is that almost all of the DL on that linked list are going to FBS schools. The one we lost out on that went to NDSU is the only one so far I'd feel bad at all about not getting.

It is my understanding that schools use a 3rd party service to filter players in the portal. Players fill out surveys and they include what level they would be interested in playing..FBS, FCS, D2 etc and they also include geographic preferences and other factors including degree programs etc. If a player has no interest in FCS or moving to this region then the coaches don't pursue. With thousands of players in the portal and the speed at which it happens coaches don't have time or resources to pursue players that have no interest.

Thing you notice when going through the threads, is that the posters that have the least amount of experience either playing or coaching are the most critical.

Agreed. I have said that many times. Those same know-nothings also like to attack and disagree with the posters who know the most too.

hoops,
You seem to work overtime making yourself a target.
Yes, I show my knowledge and expertise often by posting a lot and taking on trolls and know-nothings, and then get responses and some attacks. I especially enjoy fending off 10 or 15 know-nothings at the same time.

Interesting. Certainly would make cents.
