All-conference LB Tolbert leaves Eastern Illinois for second time in the past year
Elijawah Tolbert, the Eastern Illinois Panthers’ leading tackler through four games, was not in uniform during Saturday’s EIU-Lindenwood game.

Looks like he only played in 4 games this year so he could utilize his redshirt, but was highly productive in those 4 games. Had a huge year in 2023 with almost 90 total tackles in 11 games. Looks like this is the first step in addressing our tackling problem. This guy won't miss.

I don't think that's case considering he's been credited with half of a sack his entire career. But, he has 5 ints. If I had to guess he's more of a coverage LBer. Would most likely be Kahos replacement. Sucks he only has 1 year of eligibility.
That is just absolutely wild. That seems like pure negligence, but I don't know how their university system works. I cannot imagine that move getting past OCHE in Montana, but wow. Personally, I'm just very thankful for Aaron Best's tenure. I never, ever want to go back to the Baldwin era at EWU.
He may only have 1 sack, but he does have several TFL's. Plus he's an ILB so yes, more of a coverage guy. I acknowledged that above.
One of the podcasts did a interview with Davis ( maybe sideline lackeys) Kid was very impressive with his answers. very much worth the listen.BH is highly complimentary of Davis. We definitely are reloading at that position

We’re not going to be able to replace Riley Wilson. We can’t be harsh on Riley. Kid came in, kicked ass and was a hammer for us. That being said, this is a FANTASTIC get for our D. We’ll take all the dogs we can get!
Quick google search shows that Eastern Illinois runs a similar 3-3-5 defensive scheme. Should be a seamless transition for the kid
Loved Riley Wilson, loved how hard he played, and what he gave to our fan base and university. Can't blame him if his NIL value is what I've kinda heard it is supposedly.
With that all said, he's absolutely replaceable, and we very well could replace his production via the portal and / or young guys coming up.
I think he's a perfect example of a kid that had he stayed, hee would've / could've left lasting legacy here. As it stands now, we'll recall him fondly, but there's no lasting legacy. I don't think we'll see any kids that leave via the portal with their full size picture on the walls going down the tunnel at wa griz, if you know what I mean.
