MSU

Cats win by 10 to 14 and deservedly so. Touchdown Tommy will put on a virtuoso show. Obviously I'm a Griz fan but will be happy to see another stellar Montana boy at QB lead a Montana team to a title. Time for one of the Dakota schools to take a beating at Frisco.

If by ass kicking you mean self inflicted ass kicking then yes that is an accurate statement.

SDSU got 127 of their yards in the 4th quarter, down two scores. Used almost 2/3 of the quarter to do it, and didn’t score a point. Blame it on whatever you want, but it was an ass-kicking. Did they “self inflict’ giving up 222 yards rushing? How about the 4 TD’s?

I agree.

Get a multi-score lead, lean on your defense and run game to burn the clock.

MSU absolutely dominated the first half in third down conversions and time of possession. Of course TOP evened out in the second half as MSU’s D made USD grind the clock in each possession.

It’s a smart and effective strategy, especially in the playoffs. In fact, it seems like I remember other BSC coaches famously using that strategy in the past.

More in response to AZ Griz …..Don’t the Cats normally burn clock through sustained long drives with the vast majority of those plays called being runs at the start of games? Their play calling really doesn’t change. Tommy still kept the ball on option reads and attempted passes to get first downs in hopes of icing the game. You are delusional if you think the Cats were just trying to go 3 and out and to “burn the clock” as you say. They did not score a point the last 25 minutes of the game…..you think they were trying to not score at all? USD had the ball inside the 10 yard line two times and wasted both opportunities by throwing away a down each drive as a result of errant snaps. My whole point “self-inflicted”. Explain to me how that is not?

I don’t think MSU was trying to go 3 and out, of course. They were trying to burn clock on offense and defense. Defensive calls were intended to avoid a quick strike and make USD burn clock offensively.

I actually think the crowd had a lot to do with the errant snaps, but yea those were avoidable self-inflicted mistakes.

MSU definitely changed play calling in the second half.

I just noticed, MSU went 0/2 passing in the 2nd half. They were definitely in kill the clock mode.

The cats were playing extremely conservative in the later part of the game and were not running alot of RPO. That is a thing in football when you have a two score lead late in games in case you're new to the game.
Also bad snaps and mistakes happen with alot more frequency when a good defense is applying pressure. It's funny how that works.

Gotcha Grizrule. It’s on us though, and it sucks! I do like both Tommy, and Cam. It might be a good game. My prediction Cats win? Both are awesome QB’s though.
Yeah neither Tommy nor Cam have won in Missoula, so they’ve got that going for them. Which is nice.

How many threads have we had that criticize BH for just that?

How did the crowd cause the first errant snap? I didn't see it very well. Perhaps the second one.

Don't you know that Hauck plays to lose at the end of games? The Griz had a dumpster fire this year. The Cats didn't have a dumpster fire in 2023. The Cats are having an awesome season this year. Hauck had an aberration in 2023. If the Cats win in Frisco, Cats will have had a better two-year period. If Cats don't win in Frisco, Griz will have had a slightly better two-year period, in my view. I rate a playoff win and road loss (2024) as better than a home playoff loss after bye to an unseeded team.

Cats will win 34-31. Book it. NDSU has won ten natty's. Time for the Bobcats to win. Much as I hate 'em like all of us here, they are a Montana team and I really, really hate anything from North Dakota. Tommy is special and he deserves it.
If I remember right, they’ve won 9 and are going for 10. Right, time for the cats to win, and NDSU can find a sinking ship.

.
Have lots of friends who are misguided GRiZ fans I’d go to the matts for. Can’t think of 1 who’s close to a troll actually. Good ppl. The trolls here on EG are the bad actors. The trolls, not the rest of you. Same as those Cat fans you all despise. You have a frontal lobe, use it. Root for Tommy & Co. it’s a great story , & will only intensify our rivalry. Hint: a rivalry should be fun!
