MSU has figured out GROUND BREAKING concept in football program.

Does this work to beat NDSU? So far the answer is no but Bobby Hauck and Stitt have taken down the Bison.
Both UM and the scats have proven they can win playoff games at home.
On the road and at a neutral natty site it's not so pretty.
We'll see how the scats do this year with one of their best and most experienced teams yet.
If they get whupped in Frisco then I will still believe that it's just the Dakota States that are the creme de la creme of fcs

Nope. First thing they did, was raise the bar and fire Ash.

Choate raised the bar, Vigen is still pushing it forward.

First step is admitting you have a problem, cats did that almost 10 years ago.
Raising the bar? What a novel concept! Complacency and stagnation is the name of the game in these parts.

Does any Griz fan legitimately believe that we are anywhere close to consistently competing (that means scoring more than 3 points) for Championships? Or is moving past the quarters once in 8 years the current standard for greatness?

Idk we beat NDSU and the scats last year

Having lived in Ground Central most of my life(North Central Montana), I'm kinda indifferent to predictions of doom and gloom. I remember Elementary School drills about 'Duck and Cover' drills when all hell was about to happen in October '62, and thinking, 'what the hell is this gonna help?' Hell, I lived about a quarter mile from a Minuteman Silo for many years, in a hotbed of scatfans, and my plan was 'get my lawn chair and favorite booze, and snacks, and watch the in coming spectacle.' Que Sera, Whatever Will Be, Will Be.' The scats being this close to a NC makes me feel edgy, a little nauseous, but it won't be the end of the world(I hope). I have faith in the Bison, and my booze and snacks at my side. Go Bison! 👍

How do you reconcile the fact that we have moved past the quarters only once in the better part of a decade? Is going to the quarters in a watered down FCS really that big of an accomplishment anyway?

Can you honestly say that the current team and staff is in a state to consistently compete with the Dakotas? If not, how long is it going take and how is Bobby going to get us there?

And I mean actually win a Natty, not simply show up and score 3 points.

Can't, no, no, and no it won't happen. Glass ceiling. I've come to the conclusion that Bobby is a stepping stone on the road to success. No doubting what he has accomplished, well done. But he has reached his max. I like him and his attitude, but higher is not in his genes, sadly. The NC was reached only two times, by outsiders Read and Glenn. Prove me wrong Bobby! Please!!!

2-5 vs the cats the last 7 years.

First win vs a Dakota State team since idk when, Stitt probably.

First trip past the quarterfinals in Bobby's second tenure.

Which was great, it looked like maybe the arrow was pointing up, but this year we finished 4th in a conference that only sent 1 team to the semis. We lost to two teams that didn't even make the playoffs (one of which hung 55 on us at home)

That cannot be acceptable, there has to be some changes. If not then we will just be another team on the outside looking up at the bobcats and the Dakota State schools

Change up the strength and conditioning program. Abolish the 3-3-5. Bring in some fresh blood to implement a 4 man front defense. Try to find a way to have a dedicated QB coach. Probably gotta rethink some recruiting practices.
Seems like they are at least addressing the last one. The largest amount of early offers we have seen for 2026 and getting to kids first before other schools should pay dividends. Clearly recruiting to keep guys here that are already on the team, as we haven’t seen a mass exodus so far. We’ve also seen continued recruiting of high schoolers for the 2025 class which we usually don’t see much of after early signing day.

After getting rid of TR and CG, we will see if there is tweaks coming to the S&C program. I would certainly hope so. Seems like the conditioning part is ok as we haven’t had near the injuries we saw in 2021. However, it’s clear the strength part of the equation is lacking against the top of the FCS.
