Kind of an interesting exercise (to me)

I’m killing time waiting for this CFP kick and was thinking about how many states have State U’s more historically (last 40 years or so) relevant than their respective U’s in FB. This is just off the top of my head with no hth research done. I’ll start in the west (excluding HI and AK):

WA: U
OR: U
CA: Either big U takes it over any State
AZ: Tough one. Maybe State?
NV: Either U. Not sure there is a State
UT: U
ID: U, but gets weird because Boise is public
WY: duh…
MT: U
CO: U
NM: U

Middle part:
ND: State
SD: State
NE: duh…
KS: Probably State
OK: U
TX: U
MN: U
IA: U
MO: U
AR: U
LA: State
WI: U
IL: U
MI: U
IN: U
OH: State

Other parts:
KY: U
TN: U
MS: Tough, but likely U
AL: duh…
GA: duh…
FL: Really tough. Toss up?
SC: U
NC: maybe State? (remember, just FB)
VA: U (can’t really count Tech)
WV: U
MD: U
PA: State (this one’s kind of odd because of UPenn’s weird history of being pseudo public, but still goes to State nevertheless)

I don’t really care about the rest. Thoughts/comments/corrections are welcome.

Did you throw in New Brunswick just for our Canadian friend? I know you meant NE, but the duh for University of Nebraska just made it that much more amusing.

Is an entertaining list for sure. Especially if you really dove into the university systems by state.

Haha! Fixed. Thanks, I’m an idiot.

I thought this thread was going to be about yoga poses. More specifically, self pleasing yoga poses where removing a rib is beneficial.

Fine, because so many have pleaded for it, I’ll finish the lower 48:

NJ: State (Rutgers is the State University of NJ, and played in the first college football game)
DE: U
NY: Just no clue. Probably SUNY Buffalo, so State?
RI: U
CT: U (remember when they got a BCS bowl autobid out of the Big East?)
MA: U
VT: U
NH: U (Ricky Santos 2004, anyone?)
ME: U
