New QB?

I thought Ah Yat could throw better and more accurately than Fife. Neither were as good as I would have liked throwing long. They both missed too many open receivers. Ah Yat throws a crisp pass.

Ah Yat threw into coverage too much and made more bad/terrible throws. Thus, more picks.

Ah Yat could run, has some speed, and was more mobile, but he had problems avoiding the rush. Fife could also run. He seemed to avoid the rush a bit better, or get rid of the ball.

Ah Yat seemed to get rattled by pressure more than Fife did. This was throughout the season.

Fife gave me more confidence in watching him run the offense.

Fife fumbled too much. Fumbles (lost) are generally worse than picks, because a fumble by a QB is usually around the line of scrimmage and not downfield.

Ah Yat gets too many balls tipped at the line of scrimmage.

That is a terrific, and fairly unbiased, summary of the two. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

This is all true and all pretty obvious even to a person such as you it seems who doesn't' know much about football as you think you do.

Ah Yats talent isn't the question. Anyone can see that on the field. He is incredibly accurate and like mthoops said throws into coverage often because he's a gunslinger and makes plays. The only knock I have is, he tries to do too much, he is a competitive guy.

That will turn around with more playing time and coaching. He has the best OC in the FCS helping him along the way. Played with a lot of QBs in middle school, high school and college. AY is a generational talent

Pease is the best OC in the BSC? AY may very well develop, but to say he is a generational talent when he throws more interceptions than TDs is beyond a reach.

Interceptions are almost always returned past the line of scrimmage and there’s rarely a fumble return for a touchdown.
That's not true. In 2024, UM's average pick return was 7 yards, and opponents was 10 yards. Nowhere close to getting back to line of scrimmage. Griz had 9 picks. Opponents had 13.

7TDs including rushing TDs
no 7 passing and 7 rushing first 7 is passing second is rushing on the stat line (passing ones are 2 against SDSU 2 against Northern Colo and 1 each against North Dakota Moorehead Poly

Thanks. I agree that more INT’s are returned for TD’s than fumbles, but still disagree on the field position point. I can’t find a compiled data set on it either. Agree to disagree.
