Marshall and the portal

Interesting how the press emphasizes the fact that Marshall is not in the independence bowl rather than tell the story about their team entering the portal. Maybe because it's on ESPN and they will loose viewers which will cost them $$$$$
Pretty sure that I read multiple articles stating why Marshall opted out, including one on ESPN.com.

Did you read a story about Marshall losing all it's players to the portal ? I missed that one.
Every article on ESPN talking about Marshall not playing their bowl game mentions in literally the first 2 sentences that it's about players transferring.

yes but did you read a separate story about Marshall losing all it's players to the portal? Not the one about Marshall opting out of the bowl game. That is my point, there is none.

You mean like this one with the headline

Marshall opts out of bowl after transfers, coaching change

Not sure why you need (2) separate articles to say the same as a single article.

not what I am talking about

Not what I am talking about but I move on since no one understands.

I wonder how this will affect their fan base, and attendance. If the Griz pulled this shit, I as a fan, would be pissed.

How do you think the game against SDSU would've gone if we lost 35+ of our best players before we played it? Would you want to watch that?

Or are you blaming Marshall for their players deciding to leave after their coach got hired away?

The Portal has made that way worse. It allows players to try to transfer easily, up or wherever, and many end up with nothing or not a good home. It also allows them to transfer multiple times. Do you even follow football? How can you ask such a stupid question?
Geezus and you claim to know football? The portal has given lots of athletes that were stuck down the depth chart to find a better fit. Gawd do you even pay attention?

Yes, it has given some opportunities, but that's not what our disagreement was about or what you were saying. You had implied and essentially said that all players would getting opportunities. That's not true. And, the Portal has also allowed lots of players to screw themselves for the future. Not only do you not understand football, you can't even remember what you just said.

I didn't read the story...but a different one...that they low balled the coach and he said no thanks so left for S. Miss.

Maybe the same ... or not. But I totally agree they offered him zip despite the successful season. Something else going on there, I suspect, but we'll probably never know.

“More than 31,000 student-athletes entered the transfer portal in 2023 alone, with approximately 45% successfully moving to new schools. That means more than half did not land with a new team, leaving their athletic and academic careers in question.”

The only way you can argue against facts is with ignorance. The portal is now jeopardizing 1,000’s of student athletes academic future.

“In 2023 over 17,000 student-athletes that entered the transfer portal were left with no option but to never play competitively again.”

College football is all about money now and has turned the sport into a semi-professional sport. NCAA stepped on their dicks on this one. They need to go back to the old platform.

Pandora's box has been opened so there is no turning back. NCAA sports are the worse for it.
