GFP season wrap up pod

Kyle needs to stop screaming on the pod. It's really hard to listen to the pod when he's constantly yelling. If he can't sit there and have a cordial conversation then he should get off the pod. He does this every week. It's ok to criticize and voice your opinion (perfectly acceptable), but if he can't settle down then he should go do something else with his free time.

I didn't find it difficult to listen to, he's a "part owner" of the pod, the members can discuss whatever they want however they want to.

It's hard to be cordial on the topic of the decline of our program, especially when the program is constantly asking you to go into your checkbook.

I have no problem with him criticizing the program. That's completely fair and they have every right to criticize the program, I would too and have voiced my frustrations. That doesn't mean you get to just scream into the mic week in and week out, and I know Brint has mentioned that they're planning to upgrade the equipment and maybe that will help, but jesus ever heard of the 6 inch rule when speaking into the mic? He does this every week. The entire season he's done this. Either learn some self control or sit further away from the mic.

I really don't think he's that bad, and this kinda seems personal given your other posts regarding his opinions.

Do we know that they didn't or won't have an awards banquet? I thought they had always done that.

I'm with you on the rest, though. And I think studies are showing that the guardian caps reduce the impact by up to 20%, which would help eliminate a lot of the sub-concussive impacts that contribute to long term brain issues. A lot of people just focus on concussions, but those sub concussive impacts are doing long term damage without being enough of a short term "oh shit" moment to get players to go sit out for the rest of the day.

Every team should be using the caps, in my opinion, but I'd also require them for all players in all games so I am clearly out of line with where the current common sense is on the matter.
Confirmed. Didn’t and wont. Just think our senior class deserves that you know?

Regarding the guardian caps. Like I said. Maybe they work and maybe they don’t. But im selling to a mother that i care about their sons health, so our kids wear them.

I agree. Every senior class deserves that for what they have put in over the course of their time at the program, regardless of results. I'm sure there is a good reason, but I'm blanking on any.

I agree with you from a perception point of view. And even if there is a small chance they work, you do it. Most guys come out of football fine. Some really don't, even after a college career.

No banquet for the Seniors and no press conference for the incoming Freshmen. Bobby really loves his players! He can’t leave soon enough.

Thanks for this. I too was pissed. This type of thing cannot be justified by any Bobby fanboy. Haslam do your job and tell him this is flat out an embarrassment to the university and evidence to why MSU has turned Bobby’s program into the little brother.
Bobby is a terrific coach and the right guy for the UM program. UM has a terrific coaching staff, but, of course, not perfect. Maybe some changes coming. Yes, a disappointing year, but coming after a great year. Sorry, but teams don't win every game. As I have shown with stats of wins, playoffs and national championship games for the past 2 years, UM is currently ahead of MSU in football and MSU would only get slightly ahead by winning in Frisco. Try some perspective.

The signing days, with how things are and the portal, are now a big yawn. It's known well ahead of time who is coming. I wondered what was up with the banquet. I have always thought they had it at the wrong time.

I was so ready to defend the coaches in whatever this was about to discuss, but you are 100% correct. I coached college ball for 28 years and never once did our head man not have a press conference or even a banquet in some cases to talk about recruiting classes.

Couple other interesting tid bits that are curious to me now that you got me thinking. 1. Have you seen the guardian caps that teams use? Personally, I dont see much benefit in them but not a single UM player has them. Just knowing Bobby, and I actually somewhat respect that he sticks to his guns, I would think he would think they are stupid, which again may not be wrong. But every other college team that I’ve ever seen wears them. MSU wears them. Maybe they suck. WITH THAT BEING SAID, mothers might not think so. If im a coach at msu, im telling every recruit we wear them for their sons’ safety and that UM doesn’t wear them.

Another thing, were you aware there was no post-season banquet? That’s another thing that was incredible to me. These seniors deserve that. MSU had a banquet. I don’t know I’ve been drinking a bit, and I always defend the coaches, but some curios things to me to say the least.
Times are changing in recruiting and with the Portal, the coaches have said. Signing days are not that big of a deal anymore. The big signing day for the Griz and the bigger doings has been in February, not December. The Portal, which is expected to be incredibly huge this year, just started and the coaches are busy with that.

A banquet after Griz-Cat, and in a year when the game is in Missoula, and on the day and time the playoff selections are announced, always seemed goofy to me. Parents who came to the game were in Bozeman. When I played we had our very nice banquet in January/February. Was lots of fun.

Hoops! AKA “The Biggest Idiot on Egriz” I love your posts. I literally almost cry laughing when I read your stuff, pure comedy.

In the 8 years and 7 seasons that Hauck has been back at UM, they’ve finished better than a tie for 3rd in the conference one time. One.

That is not evidence of a terrific coach, or a terrific staff when taking the context of this is Montana. This isn’t UC Davis. This isn’t Sac State. This isn’t Idaho. UM should be better than that.

Say what you will about Vigen, but he seems to be a class act. I'm not sure too many would say the same about Hauck.
I'll also add that I secretly enjoyed listening to Jeff Choate pressers too in addition to Vigen. The guy was very relational and did a great job engaging with the media. That's one area that I wish Hauck would improve on.

You are not allowed to look back that far. You are only allowed to look back as far as Hoops says. He says 2 years, so those 2 years are all the Stats you can look at.

I know you are an advocate for the coaches and so am I. Signing days are a big deal to the signees.

If there is a banquet in January/february, I will acknowledge that thats still fine to do. Although I was told by people that wont happen. Additionally, with many seniors graduating this winter, I would argue that too is a bad idea. However, no banquet to honor the seniors is absolutely wild to me.

Kyle's a passionate soul, you can't contain his fire
I'm slowly working my way through the podcast, and I just want to thank Luke for the quote "optimism doesn't need data, bitch." I'll be having shirts made.

Also - we have so many merch ideas haha. This could be a great one

Quite literally every major school does a signing day event and thinks it’s a big deal.
