2025 Transfer Thread/ Portal Offers-- (31) Transfers to UM

OSU had 3 wins this year. 1 against FCS SDSU. Had 2 FBS wins... Colorado blew them out 52-0. The same Colorado that barely snuck by NDSU.
SDSU has gotten more players on NFL rosters in the past 3 years than NMSU and that currently isn't a trend that will change. Today NFL teams will find players no matter where they are, so playing at NMSU has no advantage over SDSU.

I wonder how many times Ryan Leaf would’ve hit the portal if it had been allowed back then. 🤣
His top 6 choices.

So how badly does NDSU beat NMSU by?

I'd guess 40+, using your logic.

There's at least one FCS team that's far superior to NMSU.
I'm not saying they are superior... I'm saying they're viewed as superior by 90% of people. The only people that will disagree are fans of top 10 fcs teams. NMSU will play better competition than the Griz or the cats do all year until playoff time. All that matters is how a player does vs "higher" competition. They've been challenged more.

A player that can do good even against the likes of UNM or any shitty FBS team still looks a lot better than some player that looks good vs cal poly.. or any other shitty fcs team you want to list that we face every year.

The only time scouts get a decent idea if a player in the fcs is really good are the ones that play deep in the playoffs against the top 5 teams.

The rest of the fcs is basically considered trash.

Also NDSU probably would beat NMSU by 20+ but, that doesn't matter. The competition they face week in and out matters.

Logan Fife will not get NFL looks wherever he lands.

That enhanced competition has lead to 2 players drafted in the NFL for NMSU since 2014.

That's 1 less than Montana State, and 9 less than NDSU.

I don't really care if 90% of people view them as superior, they are objectively not, and NFL scouts agree.

Pavia transferred from nmsu to Vandy last transfer cycle

Even though I firmly believe that Fife was the better QB I also think you can't have someone sewing dissention on the team by arguing with the coaches publicly. I can understand Fife's frustration ,his stats were far better as was his leadership and results, but I also believe Hauck knows what he is doing. Bobby wants to win and he knows what the stats are. Ah Yat can throw the ball but he makes terrible decisions. Being a good QB is a lot more than throwing the ball. I'm hoping one of the Montana boys(Huot,Sliter or Schwickert) will jump up there and take control.

They both did Spring ball together.
I was commenting generally...some on here clutching their pearls saying Griz would never land a transfer QB...

It's garbage. Griz will pull at least 1 transfer QB into the program with the promise they can compete to start. That QB will not be concerned with what other QBs have to say.

I am the dad of 2x D1 athletes at P4 schools (women) - they are focused on themselves and how they might best elevate their programs. They are not concerned with others...neither are the well over 100 QBs in the portal.
