Griz Nation. Ahh ya

Yesterday was the first time I can say I was not happy being part of eGriz and to a degree Griz Nation.
Don't get me wrong I am still 100 percent Griz, but the thread on Gradney nauseated me. He's a great kid, good athlete and genuine Griz.
The defense this year was clearly lacking and that is on the coaching.
Gradney deserves our respect and thanks.

The defense was lacking because there is a total lack of athleticism, which, you’re right, is on the coaches. There is no speed sideline to sideline on defense. The secondary was god awful all year. You’re right, Gradney is a great kid, but he was way overhyped by Griz nation. He isn’t fast enough to be a really good CB. He gets burned by WRs with average speed. Yesterday’s game was a great example, he was absolutely roasted for 2 TDs. This is what we get though. Griz nation has this dumb idea that there should be a focus on recruiting in-state, which is idiotic. The focus should be on getting the absolute best athletes we can get, no matter where they are from. This is a direct result of try to “win the state” in recruiting.

I hope some of the ‘performers’ that posted yesterday are waking up with massive hangovers and will become more clearheaded about belonging to the fan base.

I get the frustration but disagree with a few points. The first TD the Griz were in man free. Where was the post player? The second one, they were in cover 3. Deep outs are a beater, but there was no flat defender to force a ball with some air on it.

Regarding recruiting, the state has good players. I don’t think UM is winning the recruiting battles they should be winning. The secondary play, no matter the athleticism is dependent on pass rush. Is this years secondary that much less athletic than the one that played in the national championship? You couldn’t convince me that answer is yes.

Did UM have the same pass rush as in years past? I would certainly say no.

No pass rush but we’ve also been fortunate to have some great corners in recent years with Walker and Ford.

Maybe the Griz should just join the MVFC. That's what the Dakota schools are all about.

Something's said might be regretted but, there is still some truths to some of those things said.

Despite everyone on Egriz thinking that Gradney was solely responsible for the 2 TDs yesterday, he’s had 6 interceptions and 90 tackles in 2 years as a corner… he was also targeted by FBS schools this past offseason. I would say we were pretty fortunate to have him.

And yet he was all conference.
