Official Game Day Thread - Playoffs Round 1

And despite their high level of play, NDSU, SDSU, and USD have all lost two games, though the Shi##y Kitties haven't lost ...yet !!!

And since upsets still happen, med, should we even get on the plane, or just have AD Kent Haslam just call SDSU and tell his counterpart, " You're too good, we're totally hosed. We forfeit !!!" ?

Easy billgsgriz. I'm a fan too. Been a season ticket holder for at least 2 decades now. The wife and I make 90% of the home games travelling 700 miles per, and my voice is gone after each trip due to my duty in the NEZ. I'm just saying we don't have the juice this season, and it isn't because of QB play.

The coaches choose and recruit the players no? It seems like Hauck did better recruiting his first time around. We went from Craig Ochs and Jeff Disney at qb to this clown show over 20 years.

I get your point, but just to point out, all of the loses of those 3 are either to FBS teams or to eachother.

Add mine to the list!! Lol.

Was really hoping to see a complete game and then have the Griz go play SDSU tough with a complete game. My belief/hope was that the team just needed a little bit extra time to gel, but now it looks as if time is out for that hope.

Oh, I agree, and appreciate your optimism. But I think if you look objectively, and on balance, SDSU, MSU, and NDSU are playing much higher caliber football than the rest of the FCS this year. I also don't think it will matter much who we play at QB in terms of losing or winning the game.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you never played the game at any level…
You should be doing analytics for MLB’s “Oakland” Athletics.

Coaches don't false start. Coaches don't line up incorrectly. Coaches don't grab opponents face masks, coaches don't fumble, or drop passes...the list of player execution mistakes is long...seems very long this year.

These things have very, very little to do with recruiting.

Again - a coach can recruit well. Scheme well. Lead effective practices...do everything well. But, players still have to execute on game day.

The coaches need to learn how to recruit players that don’t make mistakes and don’t get penalties. The Dakota schools must do it. Why not the Griz?

Disney? He never distinguished himself and was in the cupboard when BH arrived. Ochs saved the day, one our best ever. BH was busy recruiting Cole Bergquist.

Yep - even those players fail to execute at times...but, rarely do they string together miscues in all or multiple phases of the game, during the same game. Too many mistakes is obviously correlated to wins/losses.

I don't understand why this is so hard for some - especially cat trolls - to comprehend.

That's not to say the Griz can't recruit better...and probably need (OL/DL in particular) to in order to get over the obstacles that reside in the dakotas.

Played in high school. Not an expert in any way. But one can deductively reason after watching 20 seasons what this years team has to offer. I want them to win, I just don't think we have the ability this year.

I don't know which one of us hit our heads in the offseason, but I find myself agreeing with you a lot.
