Realistically as much as I hate to say it the gris aren’t that bad. Cats in my opinion got a little flat on the play calling (which might be making the gris d look a little better) with Jones, as he isn’t the same tough runner that Scotty or Julius are, but the gris did in fact hold their own. Besides that 80+ yarder they a good job and tackled well. Offensively they did well at times but due to a poor OL it seemed like they never had time to set up any sort of deep pass. Fife is definitely giving them the best chance at success but their huge problem is their o-line. They give Fife no time and they don’t give the running backs significant holes consistently. Defense is definitely not the problem here, at least the run defense.
Anyways gris will get between a 12-16 seed which will send them to a Dakota, Bozeman (unlikely) or, Davis. I’d expect they play a Dakota school but who knows with the mess from 2-5. I don’t think it’s possible to get the 11 but I’d love to see them play Idaho.
As far as in the playoffs they need to find a way to generate locker room momentum if they want success. They have the talent to beat some teams although the Dakotas could expose their lack of DL/OL. If they can find motivation and momentum (similar to what happened for the cats in 21) they can make a run. Ultimately to make it to the semis their only shot (in my opinion) is against Davis as Davis is definitely the worst in the trenches out of the top 5. Gris posters are freaking out, guys you played the best team in the country (according to rankings) close for 3 (maybe 3.5) quarters.

I have seen bracket prognostications that have the Griz anywhere from #10 to #15. I guess we shall see soon enough.

Kinda bullshit, but whatever.
I think USD probably has the better resume with their win. Kind of a coin flip when they finish in a 3 way tie for the conference. All have an FBS loss. I think SDSU had one less division 1 win.
I’m not gonna lie, I was moving my ailing mother all day yesterday and didn’t get to catch a minute of the game. Sounds like Griz offense didn’t show up? Playcalling was poor? Not sure what happened, but honestly the result was about what I expected. Griz just haven’t been that great of a team this season. Hopefully they can figure that out this offseason. Whether that’s player additions in the portal, new coaches/schemes or a combo of both, it would be nice to see improvement. I’ll cheer for the boys wherever they land in the playoffs. Go Griz!
