Things to do in Butte.

So much to see so little time. Peking Noodle Parlor is some of the worst chinese you will ever eat but the experience is worth every nickel

A must have is a Whop Chop at the Freeway Tavern.
We almost stopped at the freeway Tavern on the way back to Billings from the Davis game. Everyone decided that we were too full from breakfast. We ended up stopping at the Fainting Goat Pub in Livingston. Real good food.
I did have a Whop Chop when we stopped in September. Excellent sandwich.

Pork Chop Johns>Wop Chop. I realize this is an unpopular opinion.

If the Pekin is open, it's definitely worth the dining experience alone. Food's OK, but it's the oldest continuously run Chinese restaurant in the US. I also don't think it has been remodeled since the 30's.
Dont say you weren’t warned.

we do day trips to butte from helena often just for something to do. have pretty much the same itinerary every time. western meat block or excelsior meats for some great steaks, front street market for some gorgonzola dip and $200 worth of weird sauces/spices/wines/cheeses that i didn't know i needed, butte brewing, and headframe for a butte coffee. we try to find a new classic butte store uptown to check out. usually one that peddles a few COMPLETELY unrelated items like greeting cards and throwing stars. as of late, have been picking up lasagna at mr. hot dogs to eat at home. have found a lot of really interesting dining (muzz and stan's, M&M, pekin, etc) in butte, but nothing that really knocked my socks off, quality-wise. used to love la casa toscana, but have been disappointed there the last few times. hummingbird cafe is a great stop. butte is a really great place to visit. metals has been trash the few times i've been there. would also agree with the poster who mentioned naranche stadium. coolest HS stadium in the state, but moreso if you are into listening to 40-something drunk buttians heckle a 130 pound freshman from the opposing team at 4 in the afternoon during a JV football game. classic.

A visit to the museum of mining at Montana Tech is worth the trip + visitors center is a nice stop. You can check out George Grant's fishing flies and more.
