It's funny to me that cat fans think this game is gonna be a blowout.

It's pretty simple, if the Griz stop the run, they can't lose this game. When a team is as unbalanced as the cats are on offense its easier to scheme, in my opinion. For the most part the cats are one dimensional so gameplan to stop the run and let Mellot throw as much as he can. I will live with that outcome all day everyday.

My Griz defensive keys to this game are as follows:
No turnovers
Wilson needs to be unleashed and play the field side as much as possible, use his speed and force things inside for the spill players to clean up. Defense needs to be very aware and attack the correct shoulder not the same shoulder and avoid assisting gaps for RBs, same with crack replace.
Blitz more than we have all year, then do it again and more often. Make Mellot run or speed up his decision making, Griz need to set the tone and don't let him dictate. Force them to change don't sit and wait for them to come to you. Bully them.

After playing against our offense in practice I know in my heart we can throw the ball against the cats. We are 5 deep where they are 2 or 3. They cannot cover us if our OL gives either QB anytime throwing the ball. Throw early and often then try to run the ball to burn clock and narrow cat possessions on the day.

Most of you think this game is unwinnable but its not. In my opinion even if a team has more talent, sometimes it doesn't match up well with the opposing team and I don't think the cats match up well with us. Its going to be a lot closer than anyone thinks unless Griz turn the ball over.

Bozeman is our home away from home and has been for a long time.

I'll bite. The Griz can absolutely win this game. It's Cat Griz, anything can happen and has happened. Griz can throw the ball against the Cats, if they can keep Fife on his feet and unpressured. I like the Cats D against the Griz O line though. On O, Cats will run the ball to set up the passing game. Tommy's been killer this year, #2 in passing efficiency in the nation. Vidlak is #3! Davis was great against the run, but Tommy showed they can move the sticks & score using the passing game. They're a fantastic running team that can throw the ball, so you can't just stack the box. Should be a good game!

:ROFLMAO:

The defense struggling to keep PSU from running the ball does not give one much faith they’ll keep MSU from running. The talent on the DL simply isn’t good enough.
D-line doesn’t have Gubner, but is otherwise better and deeper than last year. I don’t agree that the D struggled to keep PSU from running. PSU had 213 in 51 carries, 4.2 per carry. They now average 4.6 per carry. They scored 2 TD’s, one where our defender fell down.

Both running backs did better than their season average and were getting around 5.5 per carry for over 200 yards. That’s not good run defense man.

We shut down their dangerous qb. He was 13-6, for .5 per carry. The backs had no long runs. PSU averaged 4.4 against the Cats. PSU got more rushing yards and averaged more per carry against Wash St.

The D had a good game. Your must not understand defense.

Okay, got it. The backs combining for 200 yards and beating their season average was in fact good run defense.

Portland State ran for less total yards against Idaho, Montana State, and UC Davis.

Amazing how you edited this to take stuff out and still didn’t change “your”.

Honestly I don't understand the narrative that the Cats can't pass the ball. Every game I've watched, they are able to pass when they need to. Hell, Mellott has 1,886 yards in 205 passing attempts vs Fife's 1,671 in 206 passing attempts. They're not as one-dimensional as a lot of you wish to think they are.

Tommy Mellott is #2 in the FCS behind Cam Miller of NDSU in passing efficiency and has 21 passing TDs vs 1 INT on the season. Of course the Griz can win the game but if you think the MSU offense is "unbalanced" or can only win on the ground you're dead wrong. Should be a great game on Saturday!

Hoops since you are so sure that the Griz will win why aren't you offering to take action on even bets? You absolutely LOVE to brag about how much money you have and how smart you are but you're not willing to back it up?

Good points and you're kind of spot on. Our defense does not match up well with their O style. It will be ugly, and the Cats may rush for 500 yards.

The Cats are not 1 dimensional, and I am sure the coaching staff coming up with a scheme know they are dangerous in the PA game as well.
