Growing up in Montana (born in '73)....this was always what it was referred to. Later when I went to school in Missoula in the 90's, I heard it called Griz/Cat. Brawl of the Wild??? What year did that start? And the Great Divide Trophy??? When did that start?

“Brawl of the Wild” first appeared Nov. 16, 1997 in the Missoulian. They have played for the trophy since 2001. I am a big fan of the trophy! (I wish it was 406lbs instead of 306lbs)

“Brawl of the Wild” is the perfect rivalry name for this game. Every major rivalry has a unique title. It’d be pretty boring if it was just “Cat/Griz or Griz/Cat”.
