Fife let me down today

I don't actually know but one possibility is the timing. When Hauck blew up on Fife it was their first score after struggling offensively for a half and only had a 4 point lead. Much more stressful situation in a game you almost have to win than after Fontes' score that put the Griz up 11 in the 4th and there was a better feeling about the offense by that time.

Another possibility is maybe after hugging it out with Fife that it opened his eyes to his actions and by the time Fontes scored, he had better awareness/control of his emotions.

I find it hard to believe he "hates" Fife like others have suggested. I think the coaches went with Ah Yat initially because I think it is their belief that his skillset compliments the run game more, which they said they wanted to get going this week.
What seems to open up the run game more is when Fife balls out, he's much more of a passing threat and that forces Defenses to actually be worried about it. I like AhYat but hie passing ability this season leaves alot to be desired.

Fife was in the dog house for openly expressing his displeasure/confusion with the QB rotation on his twitter. I’m not so sure Fife would have seen the field had Ah Yat not gotten banged up.

I agree and personally would like Fife to be the QB1, not 1a/1b. I was just speculating on the coaches possible motivations, hence the "I think it is their belief" (more options in run game, although Fife is pretty mobile, as well).

Bad move both parties, seasoned QB/leader costs 15yds for his indiscretion, what coach would not confront that? Couch way over the top how he confronted his QB, completely unnecessary, and disrespectful. Get the QB aside, keep it fair/firm, "We won't do this,,,correct?, You are better than that!". QB retaliates against coach, nope, foot in mouth at game time does not work, want to be a leader act like it! Looks like they settled up somewhat, likely more stuff going on there, that aside Fife played very well, really good QB. An old saying, "you can confront the hell out of the behavior, be respectful about the person"., or "you've got 3 choices, 1. act like a mouse, 2. act like a lion, 3 act like a human being"

Yesterday’s news. Let’s get into Griz/cat week and figure out a way to win a football game. The offensive line and linebackers need to step it up or it will be a long day.

I’ve always been a supporter of Fife, but after today, my perspective has shifted. One of the key lessons I learned during my time with Little Griz was the importance of respecting coaches and never talking back. Unfortunately, Fife crossed that boundary today, and as a result, I’ve decided to now support Ah Yay moving forward—win or lose
Bobby said in the post game presser that he admired Fife talking back to him. Perhaps guys should do it more often

Fife came in and did exactly what he was supposed to do. FIRE IT UP! He's a student and the coach is the teacher. Tell him what he did wrong and immediately give him the praise for what he did right. It's basic, keep the momentum and don't put out the fire. There's plenty of time in private for a conversation but there's only half a game left to turn this ship around. Bigger mistakes were made in coaching decisions as far as I'm concerned then that of a young quarterback. Let's go Griz!

I agree that back talking a coach is usually bad character, but I’m on Fife’s side with this one. Imagine watching someone play as poorly as Ah Yat did yesterday while on the bench, that feels a lot like the coaches rubbing it in your face that as bad as that guy is doing they don’t think you can do better. I don’t blame him one bit for over celebrating then sticking up for himself when he finally got a shot.

Be it legacy or the coach playing favorites, there is more going on than “the better player starts”. My seats get a good view of the Griz bench and I think it’s pretty obvious which QB the team wants, not to mention the entire team plays harder with Fife on the field, even D.

I disagree 100 percent. Imagine showing the Griz coaches, fans and school time and time and time again that you are a much better and much more effective QB than the guy they are playing. Imagine the stats backing it up as well as have been proven many times. Imagine getting benched completely (he wasn’t going to play today) and watching the offense struggle like crazy and score ZERO. Points. Then imagine coming in only due to injury and leading the team to a TD very quickly and efficiently. Then imagine your coach, who has screwed you over all season long, lights you up like the 4th of July on the side lines not once but twice after that.

I fully support Fife telling Hauck to ef himself. Hauck deserved it. I don’t blame fife whatsoever and am glad he stood up for himself. The coaches have failed him miserably and he will be transferring out on season end. I’m done with these coaches too to be honest.
Who says Fife wasn’t going to play?

Aren’t Griz about 21-5 in past 2 years, and you are done with the coaches? How many other teams have won as many games? 2?

I’ll rephrase it…..I’m over the coach or coaches on this team who are playing favorites when it’s painfully obvious that one QB and one QB alone deserves to head up this offense…..and it isn’t even close.

That coach or coaches were willing to blow up the season and miss the playoffs (with a loss yesterday) to make a point over Fife’s frustrated tweet last week. That is pretty damn wild when you think about it. What more does Fife have to do or prove to be QB1 and not come out? I literally don’t understand what the coaches are seeing on the field because it’s insanely evident to the rest of us.

I wonder if the coaches ever even saw the tweet. It was no big deal. I can't imagine that impacted anything.

Fife will be the 3rd very good QB to transfer out of the program in as many years. The Bobcats would be crazy not to offer him tbh.
Some of your Cat posters over here are telling us that they see from Wilson's play this season that he is the guy for next year. I agree with you on offering Fife if he left UM, which I don't believe he will do.

Now show me what I said when asked about the need for a transfer next year. We are not all the same.

This entire thread is what is wrong with sports today.

Imagine that a coach has the gall to scream at little Johnny!!!!??? What if he has the gall to scream at a person he needs to step up and do the job, just to send a message???? What the Fuck???? How dare he????

While the message may not always be pleasant, sometimes a message needs to be sent to the entire team. Sometimes it needs to be sent to a leader, even though he isn't the entire cause of the problem. If he is a leader, he will understand and brush it off and lead the team. If he isn't, he won't.

Finally someone who has played the game and understands sports.

I was at game and didn't see it. Just watched replay and forwarded to this "incident." What a total nothingburger. Football is an emotional game..players yell at each other..coaches yell at each other..coaches yell at players and sometimes vice versa. They got after each other and were hugging within 5 minutes. There is no way anyone could tell me when they were hugging and talking that either one "hated" the other. .
