Exposed: The Reason Behind Montana 2 QB System

Good grief. This is NOT a thing in Division 1 football.

Coaches simply do not sacrifice the now...for the later.

Winning matters...head coaches are not just working their asses off to win for their jobs, they are working for their assistants' jobs...
The sacrifice now for later mentality is usually evident in the first year or two of a coaches tenure (if at all) when he has some leeway with the AD and fans but very rarely later... the hunt for a new contract usually requires winning now not later...

I got news for you. Bobby does not need a new contract.

Develop AH YAT
I share an office with a knowledgeable gris alum/fan. In our discussions we think the same thing, what neither of us understand is that um is still in this for playoffs and the focus should be on winning as many games as possible rather than building for the future.

Ah Yat is a talent. Everyone seems to forget how young the kid is and inexperienced. The speed of the game is so much faster than high school. It takes time to settle in, gain confidence and figure things out. I am really high on Ay Yat’s potential. I just don’t think he is ready yet and Hauck made a strategic error the way he approached the QB position. You need one guy who is your starter and then sprinkle the young kid in when games are in hand. I am very concerned about Hauck long term. This year makes no sense from a talent or coaching perspective. Quite frankly this far into his tenure - these type of seasons shouldn’t happen. Maybe he is burned out or he and his coaches have lost touch with the younger generation. Something isn’t clicking. People can sugarcoat the situation all they want. I am not buying it. Come off a national title run and essentially have a dumpster fire season. Still two games left and hopefully playoffs. I just have little confidence things will improve.

I love this narrative that Bobby, a stubborn coach who has never once before played an underclassmen QB when he didn't have to, often at times detrimental to the development of said player, and who will nearly always play upperclassmen over underclassmen (his own son, notwithstanding), suddenly decided to torpedo his season *on purpose* so that he could play a legacy kid at the most important position to make sure the kid stays and that some hypothetical money somewhere continues to roll in (to....the program? Himself?).

I'm with you if you want to suggest he's making a mistake in evaluating our QBs, but this new stuff is pretty hilarious lol

When you are developing a QB you usually don't go with the platoon mentality. He should take a note from what is going on in Bozeman. They run the starter into the third quarter and when the game is in hand the backup goes in and gets meaningful snaps.
