How badly will Davis beat the Cats?

What’s best for us? I would say an overconfident but banged up cat team that just squeaked out a win against Davis maybe. I don’t know. Beating the conference champion at home certainly has the most upside for us, even if unlikely.

This is what you dumbass nimrods (@EverettGriz ) are talking about?!?!? Hahahaa

Let me explain it to you like you went to a liberal arts college.

If you start with $100 and you bet all of that on UCDavis to beat msu at a +210 moneyline, you will win $210 plus your original $100 back, so you cash out at $310. If you win a bet at +100, do you think you just get your money back? lol!!!!!

Going from $100 in your pocket to $310 in your pocket is (more than) tripling your money.

Sweet baby Jesus, I can’t believe I had to spell that out to grown men. My 7th grader knows that.

Too many dance and yoga classes for you guys. lol.
The $100 dollars is not “in your pocket” if you’ve wagered it. I think that’s what’s getting lost in translation.

I think the pressure is all on MSU and Davis will be playing with nothing to lose. One of the best seasons Davis has had in the FCS, and they're going to be licking their chops to upset the #2 team down there in California.
Every game the pressure is all on the cats… every team dreams up that upset

I'd think Vegas will place them somewhere in the +7 to +12 range but going off the body of work we've seen so far that's where I'd go. Unless if there's something that happens that we've not seen / prepared for so far in the brawl I think it's gonna be an ugly one for the Griz
Hmm cats are at -7.5 at UCD. I think bookies put cats as double digit favorites assuming they win on Saturday.

Cats defense not good enough?

Big Sky Rankings the Cats defensive ratings are;
#1 scoring
#1 total
#2 rushing
#1 passing
#1 efficiency
I'm not trying to go back and forth over statistical rankings before the playoffs. SOS is a major factor. I am not disparaging the cats defense, but they are not on the same level as their offense, and they most certainly haven't faced teams of the caliber of Colorado. NDSU has a real defense. You are not on that level in the slightest. I do think Cat offense is one of the best in the FCS...However, they could get exposed by SDSU and NDSU

Wow. I didn’t realize that simple betting lines would be such advanced math for some.

If the cats lose to NDSU or SDSU it will not be because of their defense. They have already faced offenses that are as good or better than those two. However they have not faced a defense like those teams. The cat defense will be fine.

Jim has the best take I've read so far on here. No idea if the Cats make the run to Frisco, but it won't be the fault of this defense if not. One deep at the QB position is a huge liability tho.

While we're on tha topic, what's the plan for the QB position next year? You guys hitting the portal?

By my basic math skills, if I start with $10 and finish with $30, that would be triple what I started with, or tripling my money. I don't think he said you would win triple your money.

I don't agree with that take. I understand what you are saying, but in my view you are 10-0 because of the offense.

Without a doubt. Possibly double dip. Sorry to disappoint the usual suspects over here, but I'm afraid our backups aren't as good as the starter.

I would push back on that slightly. Let's take a look at the 5 teams you guys have faced on the road this year:

New Mexico: Can't remember his name, but their QB and offense had a pretty good day against you guys, and if it wasn't for 2 wide open dropped passes, you guys lose. You got lucky in that one.

Utah Tech: They have 1 total win. They are horrible.

Idaho State: Their offense is ok but it's nothing special. They got it tied at the start of the 4th but I don't think anybody actually thought they were gonna win that game. Plus that's just a really weird place to play that always leads to closer games. We know a thing or 2 about that as well.

Portland State: I'll give you credit, your guys' defense was very dominant in this game. You completely shut down Chachere and he was not the least bit comfortable out there. IMO, this was the best game your guys defense played all year.

Eastern: No Visperas in this game. Tie game 28-28 late in the third. Midway through the 4th it's a one score game before Tommy throws a horrendously bad pick on your own end of the field. Eastern had horrible play calling and I believe they ran it up the middle 4 straight plays when they should've thrown it. Good job by the cat D making the stand there cause if they don't, I think Eastern goes down and scores, and they probably would've went for 2 to try and win it. Your secondary was exposed big time in this game though, and at times you struggled with the run game.

Point being is on the road, your defense has had mixed results. Against more high octane offenses, the cat D, particularly the secondary, has struggled. If Visperas plays in that game, do the cats still win it? Maybe or maybe not but I would be willing to bet they would've scored more than 28 points in that game. Now you got your biggest road game of the year against an offense that has all kinds of weapons. They have multiple good receivers unlike Eastern who has just 1, the best RB in the league for 2 consecutive years, and a veteran QB who has played a lot of Football. Maybe your defense will surprise me, but I think they're gonna give up some points and yardage in this game. Your offense will absolutely go toe to toe with theirs and I think it's gonna be a shootout, but can you get a stop when you need one? Can you handle their up tempo offense? We'll find out Saturday night.
