LadyGriz Lady Griz vs. Gonzaga

After a really rough first half on both ends, the Lady Griz have cut into Gonzaga’s lead. Still a ton of work to do in terms of figuring out rotations and developing chemistry. This team definitely has some talent - and could end up being pretty solid by the end of the year.

Waddington was one of the more impressive players for LG tonight in our opinion. Before her little 5 point spurt to end game even. Huge upside to her game
Agreed. You don’t see her combination of length, fluidity, and shooting ability often at this level.

Really rough game for Konig. Lost a lot of talent from last season and it looks like it’ll definitely take them some time to mesh (especially defensively).

Slow start but they really cleaned it up. Gives you some hope. The Zags have a very good team. Lady Griz may have a squad this year.

LG don't have the outside fire power they had last yr. That hurts Konig. People just have to contain her and give up the contested mid range or long three. Keep her away from rim and that will be a tactic many will use as yr goes on. She also went against a lot of length and #0 was a solid match vs her in the game. Her length gave Konig issues as well. Waddington is a legit threat from 3....who else? Xavier tranfer hit a couple.. LG will be up near the top of BSC at end of yr if they stay healthy. NAU, MSU, LG, ISU and sleeper EWU for bye in tourney

Commenting on the bolded above - will it take them time to mesh on defense or will it just continue to be meh even though Holsinger came to the program taking pride in his teams playing defense?

I feel like last year was the only year under Holsinger that they were passable to not terrible. The other years he’s had to throw in the towel and just try to out score folks.

It’ll be interesting to see what he does with the different pieces this year. Hopefully they’ll stay healthy.

Too bad Macey Huard didn’t stick around. She scored 31 in her debut with Oklahoma State. The most ever in someone’s debut game for Oklahoma State.

I had hoped for a much better showing, but bad turnovers, too many missed layups and losing the rebound battle by almost 2:1 certainly won’t cut it against GU.

Missed layups possibly due to size and speed difference but the rebounding is gonna be an issue even with Bartsch return

Noticed some of that watching Mack, even last year, but she came around big time. I get some impression, maybe a little anxious at times. Didn't watch the game, but I'm sure our players know who they were up against, these pre-season competitions are always good to shake some cobwebs out!

Take away the train wreck of a 1st quarter and the LG win the game. Waddington is impressive. Pirog much improved. As Bartsch and Zingaro get healthy, we should be pretty darn good.
Sounds good, didn't watch the game. I read up on Zingaro and watched some clips before we picked her up, looks to be a solid threat!
