Magic of Night Games

1983 Griz

Well-known member
While I am not a fan of night games since I have to book a hotel room rather than travel home after the game, there is something magical about night games in Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Some of my fondest memories of Griz games are night games (App State and Furman). It seems like the crowd is more engaged (alcohol may be involved) and the team is more energized (being on national television does not hurt).

I am excited for the Davis game and for this Griz team to once again use their nighttime magic in Wa-Griz.

Up With Montana Boys!

They lost a semifinal game to Umass in 2006

Only one I can remember off the top of my head. But I tend to block out losses...
That was my first night game. I know everyone bitches about how the crowds aren’t like they used to be, not as loud etc. But I think the night game atmosphere in Missoula is better now than it ever has been.

I have been to all of the night games. Some were very cold, but I liked them all. Just seems the fans make up for the people who are missing and get louder. I know it's harder for the out of towners to go to night games, and I feel for them, but still love the night atmosphere. GO GRIZ

Why is it harder for out of towners? I get to leave 5 hours later, it's light outside, I still spend the same night in a hotel, ...
Probably those fans that usually make day trips from Helena, Butte, the Bitteroot or the Flathead. Hotels are a huge added expense for some. Just like when we see that huge drop off in the playoffs. Some people can only budget for and swing season tickets. It is a deterrent for some and not so much for others. Luckily the weather looks pretty good this weekend, so it’ll be less of a deterrent.

Just gotta get your priorities straight!😁

Swogger overthrew Schulte, who cut route short, to end last drive for the win. Which ended up a loss. Does UMass still play football?

Night games are better for those of us farther out. One night hotel instead of two.
