FCS committee rankings

It matters because this is the committee that does seeding, so we get to see a glimpse of how they see things with how teams are currently ranked.

Obviously rankings will change as teams win or lose, but being able to see the process, even early, does matter. This isn’t a poll from Sam Herder or somebody, this ranking is from those whose ranking counts at the end of the day.
So why do we care how teams are currently ranked ? That is my point. It has nothing to do with the final ranking or selection process. We could loose the next 4 games and that matters at the end of the season when they make a selection. I can guarantee if that happens we will not be seated 10th.

Because it is ground zero for the remainder of the season. You can see how the committee currently views the teams, because as you have already expressed, you don't see it the same, so now people have a better gauge. That is why we care.

They are following a new system to rank teams, kinda. But understanding how they will do things now will predict how they will do things come selection sunday.

Because no matter how they do it, there is still a human element.
And that is why this one matters it exposed the “human” element aka bias this committee’s members have thus is now on record for us too see since they are not all backed up by the computer models.

Griz better win at Poly, home against Davis and PDX snd if can’t pull it off in Bozo they better hope it’s not a blowout and the Scats are undefeated in order to get a seed to get multiple a couple weeks of home field or they will be forced into road games likely too early to make it far based on road game results in most playoffs

They've been playing with backups at QB and been dealing with the injury bug all season. Being 6-3 (with a close loss to #1 in FBS Oregon, smacked @ MSU and a close loss to Davis) despite that is pretty impressive.
Not impressive in Sagarin. 129. That’s about 10th in FCS.

We care because it gives a glimpse of the teams the committee currently likes. Other than the top 4, I wouldn’t have picked what the committee picked. Seemed way out of order to me.

griz gonna crush the Cats in Bobcat stadium? Good luck with that. I suppose it could happen, but damn that looks to be an incredibly difficult thing to do. Cats have lost what, one game at home in the last five years.... last year.... to NDSU.... thanks to a blocked XP in OT? I guess it could happen, we'll see.
In other words, the toughest game you played at home in that five year stretch - you lost? Ok. Gotcha.

Sorry this is a pet peeve. I tried to let it go and I was hoping Kem would beat me to the punch but he must be asleep. You keep repeating it over and over which destroys any credibility you think you might have.
Do you really not know how to spell a four letter word?
loose rhymes with goose lose rhymes with chose

I am not vying for a participation trophy so if you can't understand my points with or without spelling then just move a long.

I've got a novel idea!

Why don't we all concern ourselves about the Griz taking care of their next 4 opponents, and then worry about how the bracket plays out?!

Well I'd say SDSU in the semis was a pretty good team, Cats took care of them, handily. Normally the griz make it a good competitive game, but not the last two times they came to Bozeman. There are many others too.

Griz killed the Cats last season. Cats couldn't win a home playoff game. Cats looking a bit weak this season.

SDSU had road games and were gassed when they hit Bozeman. They weren’t terrible, but they weren’t great that.year. MSU had a gift of a win against Weber due to their long snapper. Griz didn’t get it done. Terrible showings is the way I wojlen In general Bozeman had a soft schedule over that period of time. It is why I hate the BSC. Ridiculous how bad the scheduling is some years.

Whatttttt??? Their qb went to nfl, 2 rbs in nfl, 2 wrs, Kraft is a top TE, not to mention some real defensive talent. That was one hell of a team.

There is some home field advantage, but I believe the quality of the teams is much much more important.

Here are some stats from 2024:

Last season, the Griz would have crushed the Cats in Bozeman, just like they did in Missoula. The Griz have gotten clobbered in Bozeman the last 2 games there because the Cats completely outplayed and outmuscled the Griz, and 2 seasons ago Tommy also killed the Griz. Those big wins didn't occur because of home field advantage.

There is, of course, some home field advantage, but some of you completely overplay it, in my view.

Cats lose in Bozeman when they are playing strong teams. Cats just play weaker schedules much of the time.
Nah, have beaten very strong teams, in fact teams stronger than the NDSU team the Cats lost to in Bozeman last year thanks to a blocked XP in OT. As I mentioned earlier, SDSU, and UM twice I believe were strong teams. There have been many others but I'm not going to go back through all the home games over the last five years and see how many of the teams we beat were ranked. Recently, crushed Idaho who was #7 in the country, but come to find out - everybody then says Idaho sucks AFTER we crushed them. lol
