FCS committee rankings

Looking at Sagarin ratings again.

Montana is 106.

UND and Missouri St. are 112 and 113. Davis 115. Incarnate Word is 116. Tarelton St and Idaho 129 and 130. Mercer is 135. SE Missouri St is 145.

Sagarin sure doesn't agree with the playoff committee.

Massey:

Davis 5, UM 6, Idaho 7, Missouri St. 8, UND 9.

SE Missouri 11, Incarnate Word 12, Tarelton 13, Mercer 15.
What about KPI :( #justicefordrake

Because it shows what the committee thinks of some of these teams now. I was a bit surprised to see where some teams were placed. However, I am not following all of the teams, so don't know. For example, why does the committee rank Idaho so high, when the polls don't, to my knowledge? Mercer and Incarnate Word? Obviously, the committee likes those teams.
My only guess for Idaho is the FBS win. Having QB1 definitely helps too

They've been playing with backups at QB and been dealing with the injury bug all season. Being 6-3 (with a close loss to #1 in FBS Oregon, smacked @ MSU and a close loss to Davis) despite that is pretty impressive.

The Idaho love was a bit surprising but I’m not sure their resume is going to improve like the Griz have the chance to do.

They should finish 9-3.

Read above and tell me why it matters. It does not matter, let a lone the reasoning in choosing and ranking MOST of the teams.

It matters because that is how the playoff committee currently sees things. Sure, they will change, but this is the starting point. The only reasoning you need is knowing that this is how the playoff selection committee currently ranks the teams. It has weight.

How does ICU seed above. Both have 2 FCS losses, less ranked team wins and lower in both rankings they say the use (and both they say they don’t lose) which includes strength of schedule

Here is a great look at what the committee had last year as a top 10 with where it actually ended up with the seeds. Like someone mentioned, give it a few more weeks this will change drastically.

this is why I say it does not currently matter

still waiting for your explanation, looks like this is the best you can do
It matters because this is the committee that does seeding, so we get to see a glimpse of how they see things with how teams are currently ranked.

Obviously rankings will change as teams win or lose, but being able to see the process, even early, does matter. This isn’t a poll from Sam Herder or somebody, this ranking is from those whose ranking counts at the end of the day.
