On ESPNU. Currently playing the regular season finale at Weber State. Up 2-0 very early in the match. If Griz win, they clinch the regular season title which will allow them to host next year’s conference tourney. If Griz lose and Idaho beats Northern Colorado, Idaho will earn hosting rights. If UNC is able to pull off the upset, Montana’s outcome will not matter, they will clinch. Montana and Idaho are the top 2 teams this year while WSU and UNC are sharing the bottom spot in the con.

And they are hosting the tourney this year correct? Due to their championship last season?
That’s correct. Coach Citowicki is really on the verge of building a Big Sky dynasty. It’s going to be increasingly tuff to keep him on our staff. Some notes in the Go Griz article coming into this weeks games.

* Montana is ranked No. 4 in this week's West Region poll by the United Soccer Coaches. The Grizzlies have been regionally ranked every week this season.

* Montana, at 110, continues to hold down the Big Sky's top RPI. The Grizzlies are followed by Idaho (132), Eastern Washington (187), Portland State (241), Idaho State (275), Sacramento State (276), Northern Arizona (277), Weber State (283) and Northern Colorado (320).

* Seventh-year coach Chris Citowickiimproved to 66-35-26 at Montana with Sunday's win. Win No. 66 made him the second-winningest coach in program history, now behind only program founder Betsy Duerksen (117-69-7).

* Sunday's win gave Montana a 9-0-1 home record for the season and extended the Grizzlies' unbeaten streak at South Campus Stadium to 15 matches (14-0-1) dating back to last season. Nine wins is tied for the second-most home wins in a season in program history, one off the record.

* The Grizzlies, who will have at least one more home match when they host the Big Sky tournament next month, went unbeaten at home in 2012 (3-0-2), 2017 (6-0-2) and 2019 (4-0-2).

* Montana is unbeaten in its last 14 regular-season Big Sky matches, going 7-0-1 last season and starting 4-0-2 this year. The Grizzlies' last league loss was at Weber State to close out the 2022 regular season.

* Montana is tied for sixth nationally in shutouts (11) and ranks 15th in save percentage (.861) and 22nd in goals-against average (0.63).

* Montana has allowed only five second-half goals since the start of the 2023 season, a stretch of 35 matches.

* Citowicki's teams have a record of 37-8-12 in regular-season Big Sky matches.

And even more impressive is how they are doing what they’re doing this season with some massive key injuries that ended the season for a couple girls. I heard he re-designed an entire new offense and strategy once that happened and it has paid off. He is a winner.

100%!! Ya, he talked about it in one of Riley’s Grizzly Den podcasts. Like 4 games into the season, he basically trashed his entire plan for the year and had to completely redirect. I don’t know what college coaches make but we really need to make sure we can pay him everything we can to keep him. He’s also stated the team’s success has made recruiting easier for landing bigger recruits and winning the battles they’ve had to fight for in the past. I would hope we’re a year or 2 from starting to see some success in the national tourney.

What are the bubz ranked?
Oh wait. They only offer goat roping

Since we are on the subject of soccer, what was the season ending injury to Dvorak the goalie from Billings West. She was having a great season

They've never stated exactly but she has dressed out for games but had a brace on a wrist. Montana only has the 2 goalkeepers so not sure how healthy Dvorak would be to step in if something were to happen to Flynn.

Griz win 3-0. Back to back regular season con champs. Last year, after going 7-0-1 in con play, they were awarded with having to travel to Flagstaff for the tournament because NAU had won the regular season con championship the year before(this is where I expect a comment from Everett about how stupid our conference is and where I agree with him😁). They were then subsequently eliminated by the hosts, a team they had just beat 3 weeks prior in Flagstaff. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long line of conference soccer tourneys hosted in Missoula, a place where Montana is currently 14-0-1 in their last 15 matches. In the last 2 years of regular season Big Sky Con play, they are 13-0-3. At home the last 2 years they are 7-0-1 while outscoring opponents 12-3. I’d think it’s safe to say this team feels anything less then a con championship will be extremely disappointing.

And does anyone know how or when Sky got injured? I saw her play one game and then this week she's in a large knee brace.

I believe Sky was late in the draw at Sac State. I don't remember exactly how, though. Possibly planted wrong. I would need to go back and watch the ESPN+ replay. Parkhurst was pretty early in the season...maybe Fresno State game? Dvorak was definitely Fresno State but don't know how exactly it happened other than it appears to be a wrist/hand injury as there was no way to watch the game online. Then Schorr got her legs taken out on a hard "slide tackle" at Wyoming. Might've broken something. Now, Borseth today gets her legs taken out.

All big losses. Sky was last year's BSC Offensive MVP, Schorr was last year's BSC Golden Boot winner and I think Dvorak was Freshman of the Year (they robbed her of GK of the Year as they tried to spread some awards around). I believe all three were All-Region. In my opinion, Borseth should be the BSC Defensive MVP for how good her positioning always is and her composure and ability to possess the ball.

It's at least encouraging to see Sky, Dvorak, and Schorr run/jog onto the field to celebrate here:
