Fife....

.....is really growing on me.
Just like Sneed, I started very neutral with him. Every game, I like hm a little more. The kid is a gamer and he consistently moves the chains. Like Sneed, he has a lot of room to grow still.

I just wish it wasn't at AhYat's expense. I also like AhYat. I want both to succeed.

100% agree, he has come into his own. Ah Yat has more upside and is more athletic imo, but Fife is “steady Eddy” and his maturity shows week in and week out. He controls the game and has a better deep ball.

The only thing I ask is to be aware of his blind side. 2 weeks in a row he’s fumbled cause he got hit from behind. Take care of the ball and always be aware there could be somebody behind you

He throws the deep ball with touch. He gets good air under the ball to get receivers under it in stride.

Ahyat has the better arm. Unfortunately, he hasn't learned to consistently put air under the ball. He throws it as a line drive.

Early in the season, I mentioned this to my gf regarding AhYat. A few games back, after a beautiful Fife long pass, she asked me, "Is that putting air under the ball"? I smiled, and said, "Yes, baby".

Wasn't sure who I was prouder of, Fife for that gem, or her for the learning moment?

Not to be rude but if you had found a woman with a higher football IQ, you wouldn't have to explain something that rudimentary. Haha. I kid. I kid.

Ah Yat does not have the better arm. Fife has better accuracy and a very quick release. And unlike Ah Yat, he has excellent pocket presence, doesn't have happy feet and has an exceptional RPO ability.

Exactly! And he has shown he can perform well under high leverage situations (as they say in baseball).

Fife is good but he dosent see the field. Not going to wide open receivers down field is a material weakness.
I get your point.

However, could it be, they want the long threat, if need be and it's not emphasized?

With a struggling defense, maybe the offensive emphasis is more on short and mid routes to keep chains moving? Keeping a struggling defense off the field is a good strategy.

To your point, the Offense has broke the school record for number of 1st downs in a SEASON, OLD RECORD 171. That's in 7 games.

This is his weakness. It was the second week in a row with guys wide open for TDs, and he either did not see them or was late. Bergen could have five more TDs if he found him.

Holds onto the ball too long. The collapse in ovetime and the first NAU score are evidence of that.

I'm not a fan of the "doesn't see wide open receivers gripe." Any old lady screaming 'he's wide open' from the stands has lost all appreciation for perspective.
That said, a quarterback holding onto the ball for three seconds is not checking through receivers quickly enough. It's hard to stay open for 3 seconds. About as fast as you can scream 'he was wide open,' Fife should be getting rid of the ball.
