Next weekend, the ranked-vs-ranked matchups are in the Big Sky, which made it harder to select games for the poll. Still, I found several very interesting games, some with early-season drama for their conference standings.

As usual in the past, the team on the left is the underdog that might pull off the upset.

You are allowed two choices, and you can change your vote later if you want to.

Official verification: Bobcats suck!

On the surface, the Tennessee Tech at SE Missouri State game looks like a mismatch, and that may well be so. What makes it interesting is the fact that the two are tied for the lead in the Big South-OVC. That may be enough to spur the Golden Eagles into an upset.

Although Missouri State is not ranked, it would seem to have a credible chance for an upset. After losing to the Griz and an FBS, they have won three straight.

Furman and Chattanooga have identical records, yet Chattie is ranked and Furman doesn’t get any votes at all. In fact, the Paladins lead the Mocs by a half game in the SoCon standings.

The Stephen F. Austin game at Lamar is another case where the pollsters rank a team but totally ignore another in the conference, with the same record. Each has lost to an FBS and to a ranked FCS opponent, so that evens out.

The Brown at Rhode Island game is included mainly because they won over Harvard and this is another chance to measure an Ivy against a good FCS opponent.

The Samford game at ETSU is another case where the pollsters totally ignore a competitive in-conference rival. Samford actually leads ETSU in the SoCon standings.

I admit that the Southern Illinois versus NDSU game is here only as long shot. The Salukis went into free fall when they hit the tough part of their schedule. Two factors may help. First, the Salukis are at home. Second, the Bison could be looking ahead to their next game … a showdown with South Dakota State.

This week is really a mixed bag ... be interesting to hear about your choices and why you made them. My main choice is Furman over Chattanooga ... because, as I've said before, I'm just not sold on Chattie. I also picked Samford over ETSU ... but that's subject to change if I learn more.

I am not sold on Illinois St. I think Mo State will beat them. I think the Mo State QB is better than the Illinois State QB

I’m not sold on Chattie, but I stayed away from that pick because Furman is God Awful.

Interesting. I called a Southern Illinois upset a "long shot" ... but it's getting votes. Nobody yet thinks Tennessee Tech has a shot against SEMO.

Trolling for more votes ,,, and comments.

Personally, I think the Missouri State – Illinois State game has the most potential as a knockdown-dragout battle. ( I have not picked M-State for the upset.)

Personally I’m hoping Missouri State goes through the valley like a wrecking ball. 😂

Wow~ Talk about an upset brewing ... Missouri Stat leads Illinois State 24-0 at the half.
Missouri State wins 41-7 bringing their record to 4-2. Looking at their schedule this they will most likely be 8-2 heading into their final two matchups (NDSU, SDSU). Hopefully they can upset one of those two.
