So Many Questions!

You would be the biggest delusional moron of all time if you wanted to fire Vigen. Who TF do you think you are?!?
If the Cats lose to Idaho, UCD, and um in Bobcat stadium, which would mean having to travel in the playoffs - unless there is some crazy injury issues or something then yes I would think Bobcat Nation might need to go in a different direction. MSU is a top notch university with a top notch football program and some of the best resources, facilities, support in the nation at the FCS level. Zero reason MSU shouldn't expect to be playing in Frisco every year - and I would hope griz fans have the same expectations for your program.

Huh? I need to see where you set the notches.

Expectations to play in Frisco evert year is absurd.

I honestly think that could happen as easy as the griz missing the playoffs. Vigen inherited an incredible roster from Choate when he came. He got lucky with Tommy Mellot being dropped in his lap. He has recruited well along both lines but I'm not convinced he's a great XS and Os guy. Last year in crunch time he crapped the bed pretty bad. The soft schedule this year has masked a few things that will most likely be exposed in the second half of the season. Hauck seems to start to get things going later in the season. We'll see how things go but this conference is still wide open and Saturday just might say something about how good the cats are or are not.
Anything is possible, we'll just have to see how it shakes out. Saturday night will be a huge indicator about just how good the 2024 Cats are. Other than UNM, the Cats just really haven't been tested due to the weaker teams they've been playing.

Last year sucked, and you're exactly right in that Cats just couldn't close the deal in the huge games. On the road at SDSU - losing that heartbreaker on a questionable call, losing at ID in another heartbreaker. missed FG, and then of course the blocked XP in overtime against the Bizons. Talk about three games that came down to millimeters and being "oh so close" to going the other way. Obviously the griz ass kicking was the only game where the Cats just flat out got outplayed.

So far this year the Cats have been in ONE epic brawl that came down to the wire and they pulled it off and got the W. I like what I'm seeing, and hearing from the players and coaches regarding the culture and unity. 24 Senior leaders and a butt load of talent. I think that blocked XP game last year was the first time the Cats have lost at home in like 5 or 6 years or something like that. Can ID come in and pull that off? We'll find out Saturday night.

Montana State is not the football machine you think it is. You are one bad hire away from being average again. And two bad hires away from being shitty

Totally agree…but that can be said about a lot of programs. That said, I don’t think Vigen is all that great. A right place right time type of guy. The guy was at NDSU during their most dominant stretch. He didn’t have to do much other than pick which side of center to run the ball. Had Josh Allen fall to him at Wyoming. Inherited a great roster from Choate. They might get better if he left.

I've wondered a lot about this. It will be interesting to see where they go after this season and after Tommy.

I've aired my Mellott theory plenty, but perhaps Vigen will be unshackled to run a different offense next year, too. It could go either way. I'm definitely curious to see.

He’ll probably pick an offense his son can star in. Probably find a way to pad his stats too by running up score and start him over more deserving guys. Sorry, just trying on the bobcat mentality we saw over Robby’s career on for size since the shoe will be on the other foot now. 😆

The thing about that Bobfan/Robby theory is those who expounded it clearly have never seen a parent coach his kid. In my experience, coaches are way harder on their kids than they are on other players.

Kind of like this:

This just in: you are neither NDSU nor SDSU. Nor is anyone else in FCS.
Correct, not yet. Gap is not nearly as wide as it used to be though. Choate saw what needed to be done to get to that level, and worked hard starting to implement it... from facilities upgrades, fan and booster support, NIO money, administration backing, etc. He made great progress and I believe Vigen has taken it even a step up, and NO - I'm not saying Vigen is perfect, or even an excellent coach for that matter. This season will tell a LOT.
