We think this season looks rough? Taking a look at the 2-deep and next year is sizing up to be an absolute shit show:

X, Z, F, TE = 7 SR’s (Bergen, Racanelli, White, Fontes, Simpson, Barker, Shafer), Just 1 JR (Deck)
Entire DL = Seniors; Both Starting DE’s (Harris & Lehrmann) & Starting NT (Hayden) = Seniors
DB’s = Gordon, Gradney, Lee, Meyer, ALL seniors
LB’s = Tirrell, Barnum, Kaho, ALL seniors
Ostmo, Klimczak, Casey, Botner…ALL seniors

Also gone: Depth guys Childs, Harris, Grossman, Osteen, Hustedt

Obviously classes come and go and this is something every team goes through to some extent, and this is an exceptionally large senior class with the remnants of the “Covid” year players, but who, on this current squad, is stepping up to these positions? (RB & QB are fine)

Kyon Loud is our best CB, we have him for another 3/4 years. I think we will be fine in the CB department. Sam Alford will hopefully be a breakout receiver next year. Grossman could apply for a medical redshirt??

None of which helps the D-line issue...

I guess you haven’t heard that along with all these Sr’s graduating, all of our promising under class men are hitting the now shortened transfer portal. We are on a freight train to obscurity.

I heard they may be setting Grossman up to redshirt this year. Play him the last four games and all of the playoffs.

We are losing a lot of people, yes, but maybe with a year of size and speed growth, some of the underclassmen make some big strides. There are guys there that have had hype to them.

In the DB space, off the top of my head I know that Loud is a freshman, the kid from the military prep academy looks like a future stud, and Lawler/Ford/Jackson will all be back. They are all going to get better with another year under their belt. I'm really rooting for Kade Cutler to turn out to be a stud, but I think I am the only one on that bandwagon. Klucewich back. Rausch will get better with another year.

I am really worried about our interior DL, and that is probably going to need to be a transfer again. I know Kaschmitter is a name that a lot of people have been high on his development, though. Ramos has the size, and will only get bigger. Nuce back bigger and better.

OLB I'm not actually that worried about. We have brought in some real studs that I think will be contributing very positively as underclassmen in Opitz and Oven. Otlewski has flashed. Riley Wilson coming back.

On the OL, Panfiloff and Johnson will be back. I think Klimczak can have a covid shirt if he wants one. And then we are hoping that Pawlak, who everyone still raves about, is developing the line along the way.

WR is going to hurt. Can get Deck and Racanelli out there. I'm sure someone young will pop up and surprise us.

You're right that there is plenty of reason to pause and have some concern. Just trying to balance that with some optimism. ;)

Wilson is a possible portal entry. He seems to have the speed and aggressiveness to play at the next level.
