Defense

Not what I was doing at all. But I think we all agree that Weebs defense was playing against a much better offense. And yet, you still haven't said that my assessment is wrong.
 
I struggle to think it’s a talent issue when guys like Gradney were awesome last year but all of a sudden just awful this year. I think it’s more scheme than anything else. With our offense, we don’t need our D to be as good as last year. If they gave up 24-34 points a game this year, we’d probably be ok considering the O puts up nearly 50 every game. They need to adjust the scheme on D. Idk what adjustments they need to make, but they gotta do something

Well then why would you say something like that? You’re acting like people are saying our D was good today. Not one person anywhere has said that. Idk what point you think you’re making by saying that, but we all saw it with our own eyes today. Sometimes I feel like all you’re doing is just trying to draw attention to yourself.

I think Gubner, Walker, Fouch and the linebackers that graduated covered up a lot of the warts. The drop in talent is obvious/

My point was the talent on defense isn't very good.

Wilson should not be included in that assessment. He is definitely good.

Defense is fine per Bobby’s press conference after the game. He’s happy with team. Happy with halftime adjustments. Basically 3 slip ups cost them game. Wasn’t happy with two fumbles.

Sounds like few changes coming.;

Maybe they should try him in coverage, because what they are doing currently isn’t working. If he isn’t setting the edge, that’s a coaching problem. They are making him far too one dimensional.

Yep, and with the portal, this all on the staff. The players are out there. Schools with far less resources are getting too many players on caliber with ours. MSU should be the only school recruiting talent similar to ours, with our resources. Any other outcome is a dereliction of duty

Db is about trust and confidence. The guy he was covering had 147yfs and 2 tds. When Lee was on him he was shutdown.

I’m thinking they just go super base. Nothing deep let teams get yards and than buckle down and heavy blitz in the red zones. Just try and give teams field goals. Nothing else is working. Our tackling in the open field and is just freaking atrocious.
 
I posted this on the game thread... and needs to be said here also.

The last 4 games... The D keeps getting beat with slants and curls over the middle of the field.
A high school QB can make those throws.

When the inside receiver sees blitz from the Linebackers (which the Griz do a lot) it becomes a hot read to go to slant/ curl over the middle. In other words the receivers are replacing the linebackers where they left to blitz from.

How the hell can't the coaches see this and make adjustments to the other teams adjustments?
