Coaching

Coaches were responsible for that loss today, Plain and simple. You don't got for 2 points when you only need an extra point and then go for an extra point when you need 2. Griz should have won that game 49-48. While Gradney sucked today, coaches shouldn't be calling for man to man on 3rd and 15, play zone. It's clear our Coaches aren't teaching DB's the fundamentals (turn your head and look for the ball, break down and tackle and don't try to arm tackle). Coaching was horrendous today!

Tough loss, but Griz are still very much in the driver's seat and control their own destiny. I'd much rather be in your position :P

Something that stuck with me when Hauck was rehired, was him mentioning something akin to "it's the same Big Sky" which felt pretty arrogant to me, as if he assumed Montana's dominance during his first stint to be automatic.

So I was curious about his conference coaching record. Won 89% of his games the first go around - very impressive! Granted, he took over what was probably a good program, but it still says something to keep it going.

Second go around, he's sitting at winning 67% of his conference games. Now, Montana wasn't in the greatest of shape coming into the second tenure, so removing his first year moves it to 71%.

Anyway, that's probably a bit off topic, but Weber's win today reminded me of his earlier statements so I felt compelled to look it up. And who knows, maybe that gives the Griz a kick in the rear like last year's NAU loss.

Collapse vs UND should have done that, instead the Defense has proceeded to get WORSE

Coach Hauck never did win pretty. I never thought I would see the day when his team's offense was better than the defense.

The defense should be much better, the talent level is not where it should be. Making then playoffs is the top ceiling for this team. Offense is great. The games are very exciting to watch but man the secondary is weak.

Maybe I was reading too much into it, but when Hauck criticized McNeese State by saying Weber was looking past them, I took it as a slap at Clifton McDowell. You say crap like that, you better win

I think the talent level on defense has fallen since last year. Execution hasn't been great. The coaches need to find ways to overcome these issues. Coaches are not off the hook.
I agree we lost a lot of talent last season but when you have players who were major contributors who aren’t playing good either I point at the coaches. Our best defenders have always been the players who were here from the get go. The plug and play of the transfer portal isn’t always the best way to fill the gaps. Sometimes putting younger players on the field is better even if they make mistakes. At least they would be developing them for the future.

What I would like to see out of Bobby is honesty. A flat-assed honest explanation as to what happened, why, and what he's gonna do about it. None of this Monday Night $ecrecy Club $hit. There's film that documents what the Griz have done well, as well as what it has failed at doing, so it's not like giving away the game plans. This all falls back on him anyway. The buck stops with him.

I agree. But good luck with that because it won't happen.

How long have you listened to him? He is like a politician.Always been that way.

I would LOVE to go back through the eGriz annals and find all the posts/posters who were BEGGING for Tim Hauck to be the DC….BEGGING Bobby to bring Tim in to show these players how it’s done…
I'm finding it pretty insane that Tim coached safeties in the NFL.. maybe that's the problem though. What's good for the NFL isn't always good for college. NFL has the talent for DBs to be 5+ yards away from a receiver and still catch up and make a play. That isn't gonna work for our safeties that clearly run a 6.2 40 yd dash. 🤣

The time out with 2:02 to play was questionable to me. The 2 minute warning was coming. That timeout only gave Weber State 2 more seconds to tie the game.
Every timeout taken in this game was questionable. Maybe Bobby getting senile idk. I'm ready to start a petition to try and get Bradford back and take over HC position lol
