Fife was 30-42 (71%) for 364 yards for 5 TD's and no picks and 5 TD's. Incredible game. Almost zero bad plays or mistakes. I have been a Fife guy all along. Fine with Ah Yat too.
D was fine in first half, but not so good in 2d half. ST were pretty weak the whole game. The front guys looked like they hadn't been warned on the onside kick. They went backwards immediately and kicker, who had great kick, recovered right where our guys had been standing. It was an obvious onside kick situation. Too many yards on KO returns. One guy had 184. A few weak kicks/punts by us.
O-line was good the whole game. The running backs were very good the whole game. Receivers weren't perfect, but played well. Bergen is amazing.
No turnovers in game.
Wilson has a lot of speed, as we all knew. He ran down the QB on the long DT run, after rushing in from the far edge.
The EWU was feeling the rush early. He had some runs, but he didn't throw his normal 79%. 58% and 4 TD's. The receiver no, was good and could run.
TOTAL PLAYS 79-81, UM first
Avg Yds/Play 8.9 6.8
Rushing-Passing 36-43 39-42
I thought the Griz were in control most of the game, but EWU didn't back off. 751-551 TO. EWU had 1 penalty, UM 5, most of which were early.
The Griz corners played pretty well and had some nice long coverages and plays. Safeties seemed mix. Corners weren't prefect early. Long coverages in man are tough.
Ostmo 10.7 per carry and Gillman 9.9. Those guys are great players. Fife 5-22.
Great TE pass plays and catches. 3 of them. 10 players caught balls.
9-16 3d/4th coversions. EWU was 9-15. 14 tackles by Tirrell. Only 1 sack for Griz, Harris, but decent pressure and, at times, apparent good downfield coverage when the QB couldn't or didn't throw. EWU receivers could have caught ball better.
The Griz play a lot of players on D. The roughing call on Hayden was BS.
These refs were very pathetic. Some incredibly wrong or dumb calls, some right in front of the guy who made the call. They corrected a few. They seemed like they had little experience and had never played the game. Late in game, they shorted us about a yard on a Gillman run, even after a replay review.
