Two-Deep vs EWU

Two topics: the Riley Wilson targeting appeal isn’t decided at the conference level. Anytime a team and conference decide to submit an appeal of that penalty (primarily whether or not the first half suspension stands) it is a request to the NCAA National coordinator of officials.

In terms of the two deep for EWU…..starting TJ Rausch instead of Rostad is both scary and short sided. Rausch is a liability on the field in terms of play recognition, field awareness and solid effort.
Boy do I disagree with this. The coaches obviously do too. Rostad struggled last week. You might have the numbers mixed up.

Bout time Rac got the nod. Fontes has made so many mistakes that I thought it was insane for Bobby to not bench him. Rac seems to make a good play every time he's got a chance.

FWIW, Rac has started the last 1 or 2 games in place of Fontes, it just now is reflecting on the two-deep. You can’t underestimate Rac’s impact on special teams either. Absolute football DUDE.

Until Fontes slows his brain down and catches ball before continuing the play Rac is the guy, don't think he has dropped a ball, but has won a lot of 50/50 catches.

He's not hurt. We will see him when Bobby decides. It's likely this Saturday.

Ok. Thanks and that just seems weird to me. Why not get him some reps in pre-season? The kids been out for quite awhile. He will hopefully lay waste to the conference. He is a rare talent. I will just have to trust the coaches. Time and again, they have proven they know what they are doing and have a development schedule.

His not playing has exactly zero to do with his injury and recovery.

That sucks. I understand the need to protect players but football is an impact sport. Either the current rule is too broad or too open to interpretation but it penalizes even unintentional helmet to helmet contact which is stupid.
Because interpretation of intentional/unintentional is the answer?

Makes sense. Not the call itself, but the decision on appeal. Called on the field, reviewed off the field, and upheld. If the conference stepped in to change it, the BSC officials would look even weaker than they already do.
Targeting is the one penalty that can't simply "stand." Either there has to be enough evidence on video to confirm or it gets waved off. I didn't think it was targeting.
