Eastern Washington Eagles scouting report

Here's some of their highlight reels. Up first is the Monmouth game. Chisholm is tough to tackle and super dangerous once out in space. Visperas is good on the run and EWU uses a lot of pre snap motion to try to confuse defenses.

Drake game - Wortham at QB will run zone read, hand it, or keep it.

Drake's perspective doesn't show the field too well, but EWU's tackling...yikes

Nevada game here:

You are really taking these scouting reports to the next level here. Thanks for all the info!

That red field is like Holt Arena, just spooky and weird. However, the eastern teams of old are no more. Eric Barriere was probably the last best QB they had. But their offense is so one dimensional with throwing. Nothing has changed in years with Eastern. Like said on the pod, its the same year after year. If we eliminate the passing game, we know they cant run. Griz may start slow but we gain momentum as the game goes on. I say Griz 42 EWU 17 and we break the damn red turf curse.

That 2012 game still haunts me.

407 rushing yards.

2 lost fumbles on EWU's 13 and 5 yard line.

Recover a fumble at the 50 with a chance to ice the game and go 3-and-out.

Give up 2 TDs and an onside kick in 4 minutes.

I get angry every time I think about it.

We need to get whatever curse is on us off this weekend from that stupid fucking field.
Basically all of the 2012 season is tough to think about. So many games were right within reach and then bungled away. That was a dark year for Griz football for many reasons.

Nothing sums up that season more than the fake punt debacle against SUU and the double kickoff game against UNC.

Love Mick Delaney, but it was a trial by fire for him being forced to learn to become an effective head coach on the fly.

Trial by fire on and off the football field. Have to give him a lot of credit for stabilizing a ship in extremely turbulent water. 2013 had promise and potential until that frigid playoff game. 2014 was uninspired. Man how much the 2010-2019 decade was a rollercoaster for the university and this program. High highs and low lows.

Tuna - if ever there was truth to Garth Brooks' song "unanswered prayers", he'd be it. I remember how disappointed we were here when he chose EWU over UM...

How about now, Griz fans? Still disappointed? lol...
While I appreciated the analysis, my take away was to ask myself, "who names their kid Tuna"?

Talent wise there is no comparison, Griz have the best players at every position on both sides of the ball. Ewus defense hasnt not got pressure on the QB all year long so its gonna be a long day for them. We should come out and run the ball 50 times in a row but we won't and Hauck will keep it close.

Griz 30
Ewu 24

What's ironic about the 2012 season is that Timm Rosenbach's first year as OC and only year for awhile. Might have had something to do with it.....

I think he would've been a fine OC under Pflugrad, who he specifically came to work under. He even said after the year that he just checked out and didn't care anymore after a few games, and was always planning on leaving after that season. Tough to get your offense to be consistent when your OC doesn't want to be there.
