I totally disagree, DA Boyz Mom,
The FBS teams offer 85 scholarships, and at the FCS level, we can offer and the GRIZ do, 63, a difference of 22 scholarships. And unlike 1A, FBS, we can and do split some scholarships in 1/2 and so do other FCS schools.
And while the FCS teams normally do lose to the FBS school and play these games fir $, the Shi##y Kitties beat FBS New Mexico and Idaho beat FBS Wyoming and almost also beat # 3 Oregon this year. And 3 years ago in 2021, we beat a #20 at the time ranked Washington of The Pac 12, our first victory over them in 101 years ( 1920 ).
And a lot of our transfers, like QB Logan Fife, Fresno State, and RB Steve Rocker, Jr., Arizona, and LB Riley Wilson, Hawaii, CB Prince Ford, Illinois, and S Creshawn Gordon, Fresno State, transferred from FBS schools. In fact, I thought I read something like 9-10 of our transfers this year out of 15 were from the FBS. Plus a lot of our new recruits are 3 star kids being also recruited by mid to lower level FBS schools. ( It is true that we are not competing with FBS blue bloods like Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State for 4 and 5 star athletes. )
We go into any FBS game down 22 scholarships, not down 63, like Morehead State did yesterday, and I think that is at least potentially harmful and dangerous to some of their kids. The FBS does not allow nonscholarship schools and neither should the FCS !!! ( Rocky here in Billings, Montana Tech in Butte, Carroll in Helena and the Frontier Conference in general do award athletic scholarships as NAIA schools and so do Div. II schools, like Central Washington. NCAA Div. III schools like Whitworth in Spokane do not award athletic scholarships and that is where Morehead State should be playing !!! )
