Game day security screening

Got back late last night from the first of this season's trips to Missoula for the Griz games. I say that because I had a lot of plane time to think about what a cluster the screening and entry into the game was...worst I've ever experienced since the stadium opened. I can't speak for the whole stadium but the Northeast entrances were a total cluster, lack of organization and a complete mess. 45 minutes for some folks that still missed the kickoff and the first series of the game. Needs to be fixed for sure, had several out of state friends there who hadn't been to a Griz game and couldn't believe what they were seeing... they loved the tailgate, the game, the crowd but were in complete disbelief when we tried to enter the game. Sure hope they get this figured out for the next home game! Interested to hear what others experienced...

The University can't afford more metal detectors...... so we all have to be funneled through one bottleneck per entrance.

It's baffling how it just keeps getting worse.

Northeast entrances?

I thought there were new screening machines this year?
They may have been new, but there weren't as many as last year. The west entrance had 2 total, one for the stairs and one for the northbounders.
The north entrance lines still looked long when the game kicked off, I only noticed 2 machines over there when I was walking through after the game.
I did not go to the other 2 sides of the stadium.

It's more than just the screening machines... the officers have a tough job but they are total disorganized, there is no formal cue and the crowd just mashes to the front. I saw some older fans and fans with kids have some real issues... for the most part the Montana civility was shining through as people were going out of their way to help those who needed it but that wasn't to the credit of any of the security personnel...

I had the opposite experience. Was pleasantly surprised how quick we got in. We lined up at the west entrance and the lines were backed up to the stairs. This was about 40 mins before kick off. When we got stopped at the stairs by the all the people I figured we’d be in line for 20 to 30 minutes and instead we were through in about 7-8 mins. In my seats 30 mins before the game. I was pleasantly shocked

Certainly wasn't the case on the other side...!

Didn't I read something about how the security was changing to how getting into the Pearl jam concert was? Was that not the case?

I read that as well. I believe the issue is more of how and when the crowd wants to get in... my inclination is that the Pearl Jam crowd was more of a constant stream and the game was a mad rush starting about 40 minutes out. Just a thought....

Went through the East side where they only had two of the new metal detectors. Seemed like it bottlenecked quite a bit, but it wasn't helped by people just...not listening to what the security people were saying.

It seems like a good system where you just walk through, and if you beep, you go to the 2nd metal detector, and if not, you just keep walking. The problem was that people kept stopping in the middle of it, or tried going backwards if they set it off. Hopefully once people get more used to how it works, it'll be a more steady stream of people going through.

Even with all that, however, we got in fairly quickly and smoothly compared to the old system.

I was emailed a survey from GrizTix yesterday asking 12 questions about my game day experience. Entering and leaving the venue question definitely got the lowest score.
