So, I'll admit I was wrong about him. He appears to be the answer and I'm sold. This reminds me kind of like last year stale offense with Vidlak and then McDowell comes in and the whole team just gels together. I now believe Fife is the right guy to lead the Griz. I'm sold.

He started out well, made some plays with his legs and had some pretty balls. Fontes didn't do him any favors in the first half (he better be doing catch drills all week).
Yeah, I wish he'd get benched every now and then. I'm not sure how Bobby just let's all these drops and mistakes fly. Fontes just isn't consistent.

In fine with either but just pick one and ride it out

Next week it to important on the road to not just have your qb 1 ready to go

All I will say about this

I’m assuming we start Fife. Will Bobby give him the whole game like he did Clifton last year in game 2? This non conference schedule must be handled differently than last year though because frankly we can’t afford to F around and drop games. Luckily both QBs look ahead of last years first game.

Ah Yat had some blunders and head scratching moments, but man did he flash, to me. I think he's got an insane ceiling on him.

Fife didn't do anything crazy, and the run game started getting going, which made it easier for him.

I am absolutely fine with either of these guys. We are in a very good spot at QB.

AY needs to learn to trust the pocket and his line and either get rid of the ball or take a sack for a few yards. I know he’s athletic, but when your one move is to escape and retreat out of the pocket the same direction every time, teams get wise to it and hit you for big losses. He shines in many ways and throws a good accurate ball.

One of the best things I saw tonight was Fife down near the north end zone on a bootleg to the right where he had a rusher closing in and all his progression routes were covered including the flat route. He threw it away out of bounds to the right. He didn’t panic and didn’t force a bad decision. His experience shows.

Both guys will continue to grow and learn.

What were his blunders?

I'd have to watch the game again, but the biggest one that sticks out was the fumble play. He did that flip spin move a few times last season with limited success, and this time it turned a blown play into an almost catastrophic mistake. I also thought he had someone open on a sack he took, but it's something I'd have to look at again. I thought he played really well, on the whole, and he's definitely faster than I thought.

So did he fumble on that play, or was he down? I thought he was dow. No fumbles in the Fumble stat sheet on gogriz.

Fife did well, but people are being too hard on Ah Yat. We'd have had a good lead at halftime with fewer dropped throws and the dropped punt.
I don't think most, at least in my case, are being hard on him. His potential playmaking ability and dynamism shows. A few times he looked wet behind the ears like almost all QBs with his limited game reps. Having a solid security blanket in Fife is great to have. I hope it works out that both can continue to enough reps to both progress as a team and prepare for the time when the kid takes the reins whether this year or next. The whole team had pluses and minuses which seems understandable for a first game so I suppose it should be the same at QB. Things can always change but it seems the QB situation looks pretty good at this point from my perspective.

There was discussion LAST year about that spin move…seemed to use it a LOT, and there was commentary last year that teams would see that on film and plan for it…seemed like that’s what happened last night and it was almost catastrophic. Kids got cojones though, I’ll give him that. And he’s a lot faster than I thought. Throws a pretty ball…

We’re gonna be fine at QB. Neither are world beaters (always makes me wonder how a Missouri State gets a 6’5”, 235 lb QB yet we can’t ever seem to find one), but we’ll be fine.

Both QBs did well. Cannot knock Ah Yat for dropped passes that were right in the hands of the receivers. The only thing I knock Ah Yat for is ball security when he nearly lost it when he was being chased down by the two MO State defenders. Ah Yat knew that after the play and will need to work on it. We are in good hands with either QB!!!!
