10 Most Valuable FCS Players

Although, Mellott at #1 is idiotic in my view.
I disagree. This list isn't discussing the “best” players, it’s the “most valuable”. Tommy’s availability is the #1 factor in how State finishes. With Tommy, State is a top 5 team. Without Tommy, they are 15-25.

The other players listed don’t have as large of an impact on the season’s result as Tommy. For example, Bergen was listed at #3. Bergen is incredible and one of my favorite players, and with Bergen, Montana is a Top 3 team. Without Bergen, Montana is still 5-8, much less fall off compared to State and TDT. Again, “most valuable” is different than “best”. Just my pointless 2 cents. Go Griz!

Will Junior win a game at some point with a return. Likely. Is he more important than the QBs on the list? Don't see it. Should have more playmakers this year, too. Nice to see him get the props in any event.

That's just it! He hasn't stayed healthy. Sounds like a Bobcat argument. "If he had played, we'd of taken it." Availability is a huge part of the game. Gronowski should be #1.

Fair point. That said, to continue with my logic, if Gronowski goes down, I still see SDSU as a top 3 team. Less regression than State if Tommy goes down. Gronowski is a better qb and player. Tommy is more important to his team/team’s success.

Good point sir

You disagree that a healthy Mellott is most valuable for the bubs and there success?
No, I disagree in your assessment that I don't get your sophistry in your argument. Every team has injuries every year. Mellott could get injured; Gronowski could get injured; no Grizzlies will get injured. The best players are there for the duration. To separate "valuable" from "best" is absolutely ridiculous. To be the best, you have to be available, period! You're making an argument for a player hasn't played full seasons. I like Mellott. He's a tough SOB, who leaves it all on the field, but his coaches have set him up for failure the last couple of years. I hope he stays healthy this year, and has a great season, but if he's not there, he's not the best.

So no, you didn't understand the article. The point of the article was that for the bubs, it is important, and to the writer most important for any FCS team, for Tommy to stay healthy. Kudos for the comprehension as the article has the same argument as you do when it comes to him.

Still disagree, but I respect your opinion. He did have a great game vs UNM.
