Griz schedule future home and home with Incarnate Word

I think I am somewhat qualified to jump into this can of worms. I live in the heart of the FCS (Sun Belt Conference) Conference. I say that tongue in cheek, but the reality is the teams we used to play against in the playoffs and championships are doing well after having moved up and I absolutely believe the Grizzlies would as well. Marshall played and beat Notre Dame last year. Say what you want about Notre Dame, because the same could be said about UM and UDub.

UM played all of these teams in the post-season: JMU, App State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, UMass, Marshall, SEMO, Delaware, Troy, Sam Houston, Boise State, Nevada, and I probably missed a couple.

My point is, UM has beaten all of these teams with one exception, Coastal Carolina. To say UM wouldn't be competitive is ridiculous.

Everyone knows the real deal here is the P5 are shutting everyone out. The G5's will be the new FCS, or old D1AA. The former FCS teams have done pretty well against P5 teams, to include UM against UDub.

So UM either gets a piece of that FBS pie, even if it is a G5 conference, or get left out and become the new D2. Just my humble (not so much) opinion.

You may be right that UM would be competitive in FBS, but there is no handy Sun Belt Conference for them to go to. Geography plays a huge part in all of this. Were the now Pac2 to expand and gobble up some of the MWC, then there might be a place for UM to go. Otherwise, they are stuck right where they are ... unless the entire western half of the country reconfigured its conferences.

Define competitive. That's the problem. We all know what competitive means in the current context...what does it mean in the FBS context? Is Wyoming an apple to apples deal?

I didn't say UM had extra revenue. The discussion was ref extra revenue produced by FBS schools...that ends up funding all of the other sports. UM will not generate that kind of windfall...the math will not work...no matter what some on here argue.

I haven't been meaning to respond to your posts or disagree. Was just intending to add info for the discussion, and was posting over your posts because that's when I had the thought. I then went to just making a new post.

Several years ago it was reported that the board of regents stated that in order for UM or MSU to move up to FBS that the other had to move up as well.
Is this still the case or was that thrown out the window?

Will P5 change name to FCS, reduce scholarships to 60 or so, give up their tv money, start a 24 team playoff system?

Why would anything change in FCS? Please tell us what would change. How would FCS be D2?

With something like that, no BoR would be held to something said by the previous one. I don't believe there is anyone currently on the board who has said that. How much influence OCHE wields in that conversation, I don't know.

That said...Highly unlikely one moves without the other...like it or not I think we are tied to the Cats on this one.

Seeing what Washington St and Oregon St are having to deal with, you can see why a single board of regents governing the state university system would want its top two schools to move together. However, seeing the BOR work in the past, I don’t know if there is that much thought put into other than you can go play with your friends, but you have to take your little brother with you.

Been to both very little difference between Hill High and the Hillsboro stadium that PSU plays in. Does it even have a name?

The new PAC2 that could be the PAC 8 or PAC10 with the addition of a few schools?
