I suppose you are right, but, if he says otherwise, I would like to have seen the otherwise play out with him Cliff not being hurt. He looked like a much lesser qb in the second half.Do I think McD got dinged...yes, do I think it hampered his play some...yes, do I think it changed the outcome of the game...no.
I wonder WHY, if he was injured on some play, and hobbled back to the bicycle rack, none of the coaches, trainers, or medical staff didn't say, 'Hey! This guy(one of the most important players on the team)is hurt,' and alerted Bobby or one of his assistants, to this fact? And IF alerted, what was the rationale for doing/not doing what was done?I suppose you are right, but, if he says otherwise, I would like to have seen the otherwise play out with him Cliff not being hurt. They did not have anyone ready to take his place because they had not developed another quaterback. They though Vidlak was all they needed, turns out he was someone they did not need.I wonder WHY, if he was injured on some play, and hobbled back to the bicycle rack, none of the coaches, trainers, or medical staff didn't say, 'Hey! He looked that way because he was beat and frustrated he could not do anything about itI suppose you are right, but, if he says otherwise, I would like to have seen the otherwise play out with him Cliff not being hurt. He looked like a much lesser qb in the second half.
I would have liked to have seen what would have happened if UM had gotten the score early, or not fumbled on the pass completion early in the first half, or both.
They must have decided he was still the best option to get the win. That’s what coaches do. Players play hurt all the time.I wonder WHY, if he was injured on some play, and hobbled back to the bicycle rack, none of the coaches, trainers, or medical staff didn't say, 'Hey! You can’t develop other qb’s when you need the starter to win the tough and close games. Getting the current win is almost always the most important goal. More important than developing depth. They did not have anyone ready to take his place because they had not developed another quaterback. They thought Vidlak was all they needed, turns out he was someone they did not need.
I could go for a free dinner and drinks at Lolo Steak houseShould we do a GoFundMe to send some posters to football 101 school?
Lol, no. What QB looked good against SDSU? How could we have better developed Ah Yat? People on here just keep saying "they should be developing a young QB more." But nobody can seem to explain what they are doing wrong or what they should be doing.... A successful Freshman QB is incredibly rare. A successful freshman QB against one of the best FCS teams of all time is a near impossibility for any coaching staff.AKA, they f*cked up in player development, and paid later?
This is demonstrably not true. Vidlak had been dropped to third string by like week 4, and they were working on Ah Yat. So they definitely did not "think he was all they needed, so they didn't develop another QB."They did not have anyone ready to take his place because they had not developed another quaterback. They though Vidlak was all they needed, turns out he was someone they did not need.

That's how I saw it too!McDowell HIMSELF needed development...that's why he played so much...if we were going to have any shot in the playoffs Bobby didn't have the luxury of sitting McDowell for halves of games, even games that were well in hand. McDowell had LOTS of growing to do...
That is a very good point. And McDowell seemed to get better as the season went on.McDowell HIMSELF needed development...that's why he played so much...if we were going to have any shot in the playoffs Bobby didn't have the luxury of sitting McDowell for halves of games, even games that were well in hand. I think we should just start the worst QB on the team. That way, he can develop. The ones who give us the best chance to win are psssh. Who cares if we drop a game to NCU? We’re developing QBs over here.
Aside: Speaking of NCU, remember when that guy challenged Everett to some sort of weird rasslin’ match?
The Vidlak I refering to was in the beginning of the season. IMO it does not begin with Ah YAT on development but before him. That's why they have have continued to bring in quaterbacks who have experience.Hoping at some point they have a sustainable one developed to take over. Quaterback play the last few years for the Griz has not been the best. This is demonstrably not true. Vidlak had been dropped to third string by like week 4, and they were working on Ah Yat. So they definitely did not "think he was all they needed, so they didn't develop another QB."
When you are getting ready for games, you can only give a certain percentage of snaps to the backup because each week you are getting the starter ready to play. If we started trying to develop Ah Yat instead of getting Clif ready each week, we would have had a worse time for the starter.
When Ah Yat got in throughout the year for cleanup duty or at other times, the consensus of every Griz fan I heard from was that he looked way better than expected. That means they were developing him quite well.
At least we would have someone who could lead the team in the future and not pack thier bags when they see greener pasture.I think we should just start the worst QB on the team. That way, he can develop. The ones who give us the best chance to win are psssh. Who cares if we drop a game to NCU? We’re developing QBs over here.

And he still does but it will not happen with the Griz.McDowell HIMSELF needed development...that's why he played so much...if we were going to have any shot in the playoffs Bobby didn't have the luxury of sitting McDowell for halves of games, even games that were well in hand.
