Top 25 Returning FCS OL

I just remembered this… I heard from people I know well (but take this with a grain of salt) that Ah Yat has done some wild things at parties and nothing has been done. But once again I am not the direct source nor was I there.
I think you're full of crap. Nice try at deflecting.

Anything that has happened under our current coaching staff has been summarily dealt with (which is only the assault and that kid is long gone). Your current head coach kept coaches on staff who had DUIs and got more while they were on his staff. People who live in glass houses...

But...but...he JUST remembered it...somehow it had slipped his mind.

Holy crap! That reminds me that I heard from people I know well (but take this with a grain of salt) that two Bobcat coordinators (not players, mind you. Coordinators) were arrested and renewed/given raises and coached an entire season while out on bail so the Bobs could have their "Magic Season". When it didn't work out, then, and only then, were the coordinators terminated. But once again, I am not the direct source, nor was I there. I'm just going off of police reports and very limited press coverage of the incidents.

Pretty hard to overrule an OC who has established the best offense (based on statistics) in the FCS. Adam Bock is good but I don’t believe that he would’ve changed a whole lot overall. In cat gris almost all of Tommy’s throws were 20+ yards which is exactly what I’m saying the cats will go away from. The cats in week 2 and the playoff game relied on shorter passes with a mix then of deep balls, this was way more successful. Also how are the gris #2 if they allowed Tommy an avg. of 10.7 yards per carry?? Also Julius Davis avg around 7 so this is not just a schematic thing. Point is that the bobcats will move into a more effective and efficient passing scheme and will continue to have the best running offense in the FCS as we still have our top 4 rbs.
How are the Griz #2 you ask? They were seeded 2nd in the playoffs and lost to the #1 seed.

Agreed total demonstration of cat gris home field advantage. Gris got smothered in 22 in Bozeman and Cats got smothered in 23. Both teams have incredible atmospheres that make it very difficult to win in.
And Cats got crushed in 2021. The Griz will beat the Cats this season. I did well on my prediction last season, including that the Griz would be favored going into the Cat game. No one predicted that on egriz like I did.

From my understanding the offense is designed the way it is because of Tommy's skills. He's an exceptional runner and a poor true passing QB, so they take advantage of the former and try to coach around the latter. If he's only throwing those routes and concepts, it's because he can't run other stuff. It's one of the reasons why people always say he wouldn't be a QB in our system because our system as it is right now requires the QB to make certain reads and throws. McDowell grew into being able to do it last year where they didn't have to mask as much in the passing game, but from what I've heard, Tommy wouldn't be able to do that without fundamentally changing up his game.
UM knew, and had been told by other coaches, that they should force the Cats to pash. Because the Cats couldn't pass very well.

I believe the qb option crap will start to go away.
It’s awesome that you recognize your own offense as “crap”. 👍

Do the bubs still have Sixx-pac as the HC?
Why do you think he would go away from his bread and butter? Is he not an old dog or maybe it’s not a new trick?

Also, the bubcatz have done more damage to Billy Idol than heroin and Heidi Fleiss combined.

Multiple players going to jail, 2023 a player assaulted another student. I vividly remember a player taking a purse that was in a garage but don’t remember anything outside of that. I don’t have direct info on the 2017 and 2015 cases outside of Griz players going to jail and getting back out.
UM hasn't had players going to jail, let alone multiple ones, in recent history. The last ones I recall were the 3 guys who got arrested for wondering around in a house under construction one night, not realizing the part of the house was occupied. They eventually got misdemeanors. That was 2015. They were all good kids, and things went well for them after their minor punishment and in life. A Griz got a dui in 2017.

A new frosh player, who had been in Missoula a week, assaulted another player in their dorm room, and left town as he was kicked off the team. No cops consulted, and no charges. No big deal. Jeez.

You are exaggerating.

I don't recall any player taking a purse that was in a garage. Tell us more.

Hauck wasn't at UM in 2017 and 2015.

You really might want to reconsider using the ridiculous "gris" moniker on our board. It just smacks of disrespect and makes me not want to take anything you say seriously.
You serious right now with this?, a few of your fellow griz fans constantly refer to the bobcats as "bubs", or "bubcats" , or the ever clever ''scats"...

one of you fellow griz fans can't even spell his own teams mascot name right as his username..it's grizzlies, not whatever the hell he wants to go by., to me that's not funny or clever.

Yeah, and before you say they can say and do what they want on their own board cause its Egriz and all..

Only thing it does is that it makes everyone on either side of the fence bobcats or grizzlies sound extremely juvenile and very sad.

Yes I'm serious. Maybe scroll to the top of the page and see what it says. I'm pretty sure it says egriz and not Bobcat Nation.

I agree that the derisive name calling is stupid on both sides. But I can almost guarantee that if a Griz fan goes to bobcat nation and makes a post calling them the scats, that post will be removed and quite possibly the poster will be banned. Things are a lot more loosey goosey over here so people get to say what they want. I was just pointing out that he was being disrespectful to us on our own board. You don't have to agree with me but I stand behind it.

Bringing this thread back on track, I think the Cats OL will be very good again this year. JT Reed was a starter who was dealing with injuries last season. Also, they have developed a lot of good depth with many backups getting considerable playing time last season. Yes, Armstrong was an excellent OL coach but his replacement, Al Johnson is also very good. He was an OL at Wisconsin, played in the NFL and came with good coaching experience. Did not see any drop off with him. He has also has opened up some new recruiting areas.

As for the Griz OL, I would expect to see a lot of improvement with your new OL coach. I haven't kept up with the roster additions but it appears they have strengthened this position. Overall, I predict your OL will be fine.

To say one OL is going to be better than the other right now is a real longshot. Will be fun to see how each team does at this position as the season progresses. Can't wait for Fall camp to get started.

This isn’t deflection… Vigen didn’t keep people, to my knowledge we have no coaches who have DUIs

Hauck knows what's going on with the program and with his players. And so do the Asst coaches. There is now way you would know something that the coaches don't know.
How would the coaches find out what goes on at parties??? I heard this from someone who watched him at a party…
