2024 FCS Opening Game Schedule of Interest

Very good column, if sdsu can pull of the upset and beat oklahoma state they have a very good chance at getting the all time consecutive wins record.
ndsu currently holds the record at 39, bdsu also has the second longest winning streak in the history of fcs football, Coincidently ndsu might be the only other team other than Oklahoma state team on the sdsu schedule that has a legit shot to beat them in the regular season,.

SDSU is good but are they good enough to beat OK State? I would say the chances of that happening are pretty slim. My opinion is they wouldn't even have been able to accomplish it last year and it remains to be seen whether they will be as good this year as they were last year. I hate to say it but I think the Cats have a better shot of beating New Mexico.

Opening weekend might be a night game as its been designated "black out", homecoming will be at 2PM and the Davis game will be a night game being broadcast on ESPN.... other than that I'll guess they'll keep us waiting...

That's a solid theory 😂 but I'm pretty sure it's just that before Wa Griz had lights, all games were scheduled to take place when there would be the most natural light available. Which meant most games kicking at 1:00 p.m. until the time change in the fall after which games kicked at noon.

I think we all know Bobby's opinion on the matter. All college football games are supposed to be played on Saturdays around noon or 1:00. The end. Haha.

I may have over thought that one! Lol

Gosh, a huge part of me wishes Hauck felt differently on that. Maybe it is because they are rare, but I love an early fall night game in Missoula.

Oh there will be night games. Bobby just won't like it. 😆 There have been a lot of away night games in the last few years also. I couldn't care less except that a night game in the pacific time zone means I have to stay up very late to watch the game which leads to a very cranky me on Sunday mornings.

It's always been my understanding that they played the game at noon because they wanted to be done before it gets dark. This is something they've been doing since before both stadiums had lights and had to push kickoff up an hour because of Daylight savings time. I think it's stupid that they don't wait until 1 but it's hard to break tradition at this point

The night game in 2014 was one of my favorite brawls ever, and I so wish they'd bring it back at least every couple years.

so I been busy again trying to eat that piece of sweet corn on the cob but hey lots of butter and salt makes it worth it. The point I was making with the original post was not who beats who and rankings but it was ----
Look at the quality TV times and or the bigger payday the other teams received.The GRIZ well they are playin Missouri St. The only benefit is that it is a home game and Missouri State works cheap.

The Griz make more money playing home games than they do going on the road to an FBS. They do sometimes do home and homes with better teams but then that means that you're giving up one of your home games the next year. It's a balancing act. It's pretty easy to understand really.

We have the advantage that we don't have to go get our players beat up for money. That one of the advantages of WaGriz, the GSA, and the QB Club's performance in recent years. We don't take those play up games unless it makes sense for us. It is one of our strengths in the FCS, to be quite honest.

I genuinely don't think that losing on national TV is good for exposure or recruiting. At this point, the strategy seems to be get as many fans into WaGriz as possible, and those bigger schools will never want to do a home and home with us. If a team like Wyoming or Oregon State was willing to do a home and home, I am sure the U would be all over it.

Winning on National TV and getting paid lots of money to do so would seem the logical choice to me.For example the Washington Huskies game.

Getting the paycheck and the win don't usually go hand in hand. UW paid UM $675,000 for the privilege of losing. I'm pretty sure that the AD has no problem with scheduling those games if the payday is good enough. But then most of them you're going to lose.

Honest question, how much money do you think we make on one of those games vs how much we bring in at WaGriz?

Personally, I think the exposure we get with a deep playoff run and high seed is better than the risk of just getting beat up by a much bigger team.
