Logan Fife highlights and Hudl

There isn't a lot going on to actually discuss around football, but the QB competition is definitely on my mind. Big fan of Ah Yat and Huot, who looked great at the Spring Game, and if either of them win the competition then I will be very excited. Partly because I genuinely think Logan Fife has the tools to be a stud at the FCS level. Two years of eligibility, through the 2025 season. Minnesota wanted him to come in for their QB competition, so coaches at the FBS level thought highly of him. Part of the reason he changed his commitment to here was Jake Haener suggesting it would be a great fit for him. Including a few highlights, he has all the tools and I feel a weird Sneed comparison in some of what he does with keeping his head up on the run to find a guy in the chaos, and then also being willing to drop a shoulder for some tough yards. The 75 yard TD throw is a beauty in the Fox Sports highlight.

I see a LOT to like in him. He can ball, and I think he just needs time in the system to get comfortable. And as many have wanted, we have at least two years with our current QB room barring transfer (which is likely for one of them)

I'm optimistically hoping for a lot of Fife For Life merch in the future.

I don't really understand why people seem ready to write him off based on spring ball alone. Both Huot and Ah Yat already knew the system and the playbook. Fife had a lot of learning to do, which Bobby says he is doing quickly. I am optimistic about him.

Regardless of learning a new system, his decision making was not ideal. He can be great but, he has a lot to work on imo. I just think if we want to come out of the gate winning, Ah Yat or Huot is the best bet. I think Fife has the potential to be great next year with a year under his belt. They seem far more ready. We will see how fall plays out though, could really get it together or might be much of the same.

Also for me, confidence is a huge thing at the QB position and I think that's why I like Huot so much. Seemed much more confident and comfortable than the other guys.

I was super happy to see what Huot did. And I am not at ALL down on Ah Yat. I'm really excited about this competition. If one of them beats out Fife, that is just a really big feather in the cap for them, in my opinion. Hard not to be excited for this QB room.

Not for TurdandConstantlyWrong. If Bobby doesn't go out and get a 5* HS recruit to come in and immediately start then he's a failure.

Tremendous upside. He will be ready for fall. I can 100% see him as the starter going into the season.

"Why would Bobby Hauck risk this season with a freshman QB that has not proven anything?! Everyone knows that a dominant team like the Griz should have a dominant QB. Not some kid out of high school that has done nothing. The best teams in college football start seniors, not this participation trophy staff though!"

No matter what Bobby Hauck does, it is wrong. I have literally seen Third claim that he was so impressed by Ah Yat, and he was better than McDowell. Now he says Ah Yat has proven nothing and cannot be used as evidence of Hauck successfully recruiting anyone, because he is unproven... Just like every single other college freshman. I want to not even pay attention, but it is breathtaking.

Not many FCS Qbacks can throw that long out like Fife shows in his highlights. Impossible to defend with the perfect pass.
That long out is the throw in our route tree some guys have had a tougher time with. Even some very good qbs. I was excited by that, too.
