I like the Mellott in slot idea. It’s too bad he hasn’t been a bit more durable and a more consistent passer. I am a Mellott fan.
Absolutely nothing but love for that kid. He is all class, a hard worker, and from what I have heard he is just an outstanding kid. I ran into him in Missoula last year around Easter, now I realize why he was here, and I didn't bring up anything about the rivalry in the two minutes we chatted, and he is just a really kind kid.I like the Mellott in slot idea. In three years and 33 games, he has thrown 24 TD’s and averages 98 yards passing a game. His pass attempts to rush attempts is nearly 1:1(380:368). Hes rushed for more TD’s then he’s thrown(28 to 24). Again, he’s a RB that’s playing QB.He couldn’t run our offense.
And, sadly, doesn't have the body for what they do to him. I hope it changes for his sake, but I have never seen a team FAKE the run with their starting QB as much as they do. Or even close. It opens him up to taking hits he just doesn't need to take, and that kid should be better protected than he is, in my opinion. I've never seen it done, and I was watching one of their games last year and said aloud to myself "what the fuck....."In three years and 33 games, he has thrown 24 TD’s and averages 98 yards passing a game. Agreed. I get riding your stud but it’s borderline criminal what he goes through. And, sadly, doesn't have the body for what they do to him. Incorrect. “Financial Engineering” is a jazzed up title used to market a business degree at a school which likes to spin the narrative “We’re a STEM school offering high paying degrees, UM is a liberal arts school with degrees that are of little value”. ABET doesn’t recognize “financial engineering” as an engineering discipline, there’s no requirement to sit for the FE to graduate (unlike all the other engineering paths offered in Bozeman) and there is no PE exam to take for professional registration in the post graduate world. The kid is a stellar student with a 4.0 gpaThere is one little problem the Griz could NOT overcome. He is an Engineering Major, right?
I can’t believe you would accuse a fine upstanding state college of spinning a false narrative. Why last year they couldn’t come up with a complete narrative for their coordinators at all.Incorrect. “Financial Engineering” is a jazzed up title used to market a business degree at a school which likes to spin the narrative “We’re a STEM school offering high paying degrees, UM is a liberal arts school with degrees that are of little value”. He would easily start for the GrizAnd, sadly, doesn't have the body for what they do to him. Why is it criminal? Did you call "criminal" when McDowell ran the football? What's the difference? TD Tommy is a better passer than McDowell, and just as good a runner.Agreed. I get riding your stud but it’s borderline criminal what he goes through.
Did Super Dave, at 175 llbs. have the body to run the football? Yet, he did frequently. Did Doug Flutie have the body to run the football? Your argument shows little knowledge of the game. And, sadly, doesn't have the body for what they do to him. I'd argue the difference is that McDowell is 6'4", 225 pounds. They are built really differently. Why is it criminal? Did you call "criminal" when McDowell ran the football? What's the difference? TD Tommy is a better passer than McDowell, and just as good a runner.

This is exactly the difference. The fact that Mellot has yet to make it through an entire year without being injured tells you whether or not he has the body type for the offense they are running with him. There have been times when he has been injured multiple times during the year. How many games did McDowell miss last year due to injury?I'd argue the difference is that McDowell is 6'4", 225 pounds. They are built really differently.
Did Super Dave get a lot of designed runs like Mellot?Did Super Dave, at 175 llbs. have the body to run the football? Yet, he did frequently. Did Doug Flutie have the body to run the football? Your argument shows little knowledge of the game.
No. He passed a lot, and he was a good scrambler. Apples to Oranges. No comparison whatsoever.Did Super Dave get a lot of designed runs like Mellot?

What a totally stupid comment. DD didn't run. He scrambled some.Did Super Dave, at 175 llbs. have the body to run the football? Yet, he did frequently. Did Doug Flutie have the body to run the football? Your argument shows little knowledge of the game.
'Some.' He is know for his scrambling, that's DD football, as I remember it.What a totally stupid comment. DD didn't run. He scrambled some.
