Richmond Football moving from CAA to Patriot League

Had been hearing that Richmond wasn't very happy with the direction of the CAA and was looking to get out, but the Patriot League? Damn. I would've been pushing hard to get into the SoCon.

These are troubling times for the CAA. Ever since JMU left, they have completely mismanaged the future of the conference with the additions of all these schools (Monmouth, Campbell, etc.) that it's driven off some of the long time names. This was one of the reasons Delaware cited for their move up to FBS, and now Richmond is abandoning ship for what appears to be a downgrade, but maybe not. Is Villanova next?

Well if the rumors are true that Wazzu and OSU are planning to re-build the PAC12 then that should open up spots in the Mountain West in a couple years

The FCS is very much alive and doing quite well. Nice competition. Some terrific teams, including the several at the top. The playoffs and Frisco were huge fun.

It's Hyped up D2 ball now. G5 conferences are the new FCS/1AA. Keep drinking that kool-aid.
