Bye Week Blues

... Big Green needs to stage a second-half comeback (16-0 lead for Columbia, for those who aren't following the game). Gonna be tough.
And they did stage a comeback ... which fizzled at the end due to totally incompetent officiating. They took so long to spot the ball, the clock ran out while Dartmouth had time to spike the ball and get off one more play from the Columbia 17 yard line. Not saying they would have made it (for a 24-22 win), but the bungling took away their chance. Sad that such a close, hard-fought game should have ended that way. Lots of well-deserved booing as the officials ran off the field.

Yup, I watched. It was a good game. Columbia was very good and the better team early in the game. Dartmouth had driven the length of the field late in game, and had 1st and goal on the 6 with enough time left. Got 2 penalties and a sack. Then, the ref couldn't spot ball, and in fact picked it up and moved it back, as Dartmouth was trying to spike the ball. The refs were bad. Completely gave Columbia a TD late in first half with a blown PI call when the Dartmouth defender had great position and almost got a pick. Dartmouth kicker missed a 20 or so yard FG in first half. Columbia had a very nice stand at the end of the game.

Had Dartmouth come back, it would have been its 5th comeback win of its 6 games. Columbia's qb was very accurate and good, and they have the leading receiver in the conference. I thought Dartmouth let him get to comfortable by not putting pressure on him enough.

Idaho, thanks for calling attention to the game, and listing the directtv channel.

More than welcome. It was actually one of the better games of the day, even if it didn't go into OT like some did. Two heavyweights exchanging in big punches.
