As for Gillam's tweet it looks like we offered him back in June of 2017 (UC offered him in August). I wonder if that tweet is him narrowing the schools down to the 3 schools that he's considering. He'd be a real nice get for the Griz!

Grizzly fans you were duped by either your media relations or your Head coach. Karl Nicholas was no where near the 17th best rated recruit in Texas. Rivals had him as the 60th rated recruit in Texas. The Houston Chronicle had him as the 17th best recruit in the Houston area. To be honest with you, I think the kid has attitude problems and I am not that excited about his transfer to my SFA Lumberjacks. I hope that he proves me wrong.

Regardless of pointless rankings at this point, Karl doesn't have an issue in the talent department. He's plenty talented to contribute to your team from a physical standpoint. His issue is your second point... He didn't buy in to max effort defensively this year and didn't think that should keep him from playing more like it did down the stretch. Let's hope he realizes that for you guys [emoji108]

As for the Rivals rankings, Rivals also had Zhaire Smith ranked around 60, so I'm not sure Rivals ratings mean much. Zhaire Smith of course played for Texas Tech this year and averaged about 11 points and 5 rebounds a game as a freshman. Most mock drafts have him going somewhere in the first 15 picks of the upcoming NBA draft. Here is the link to the Rivals Texas rankings for 2017. You'll also see Luke Schultz (a MSU Bobcat player who left the team during this year) on that list ranked above Zhaire Smith and Karl Nicholas.
Rating systems are a bit questionable when it comes to HS hoops and seem to miss or underrate a LOT of players who are flying a bit under the radar, are on smaller school teams, or are on bad teams.
