Would have loved to see Joey Counts bowl over some defenders. Joey can wear out a defense if given the chance. Maybe these guys are hurt, IDK. I did see Counts on Special teams.
Would love to see the younger kids get a chance on the O-Line.
Would love to see Chalich or Phillips run the offense with the 1's.
I realize road games have only so many players, but getting beat and doing nothing isn't a good option.

You can't find out if they are always on the bench. Give them all a try. There could be the diamond in the rough sitting there that may provide a spark. Yes a spark like Marc Mariani provided against' SD in the playoffs.

I would have loved to see Chalich in that game. Mobile QBs have historically given EWU fits. Remember that game in 2012 that we lost there in Delaney's first year? We had a mobile QB and they could not deal. Absurd rushing yards. If only he could have thrown... Chalich can thow and knows this offense. Having a QB as a real running threat could have been a difference maker in this offense yesterday. A spread offense without the threat of a mobile QB is almost one dimensional. It negates many of the advantages that the spread has. Instead of having to respect the run, the DL can pin their ears back. The read option action fools no one, and the DE crashes to the RB every time. I'm looking forward to the days when a QB will run the ball and finally put real pressure on good defenses.

I do think the Griz would be more effective in the Red Zone with a QB that can run a little bit.

If he is 4th string it is because Stitt isn't playing him. He is not a bad football player. Why Stitt doesn't play him is a mystery to me. He is not a bad player. Only thing negative about him in regards to football is his ability to stay healthy.

He is 4th string because he is the worst of the 4 guys not red shirting.

Nope, not going to help any Griz fan feel better. Not the point, although some people can't seem to get it. Just to repeat: We're all disappointed at the loss and wish the Griz were doing better. But to say that the Griz are "bad team," "s**t," and some of the other crap that's being thrown around is just ignorant. Out of 122 FCS teams, there are only 30 that have a better winning percentage than UM ... and one of those is St. Francis (PA). There are thirteen teams with the same 5-3 record and one of those is South Dakota State, which I expect to be ranked #13-15 in the next STATS poll. There are 78 teams that have a worse winning percentage -- some way worse, like ZERO (three of those, BTW). Even to say the Griz are just "mediocre" -- middle-of the road -- is simply wrong.

Yet in their disappointment, too many posters are calling the team (and therefore the players) "worthless," implying that the coaches should write off the year by playing "next year's" players, calling for the coaches head, and worse. That's all BS. I, for one am not ready to write off this year (fortunately, I have plenty of company in that).

So no, I did not start this thread to make anybody feel better about the state of Griz football. But I did have hopes that it might cut down some of the more extreme idiocy. (Didn't work, obviously .)
